The Conference nn the Guaranteed
Cotton Bill of Lading Brought
No Solution of the Ques-
tion Yesterday.
Nothing of interest developed in the whole-
sale district yesterday. Prices in the fruit, pro-
duce and country produce divisions were un-
changed, and the staples were unchanged, eicept
in the case of fancy hams, reduced to 18 cents.
The conference in New York over the guaranteed
bill of lading for cotton shipments did not re-
sult in an agreement and it seems that while
London was willing to confer, it had very few
concessions to make from its original demand.
The prolongation of the conferent •• will have a
tendency to unsettle values somewhat tempo-
rarily, but no slump in cotton is anticipated that
would work injury to ihf South.
