Tracks n tracings . . .
ri riendly suicide,
Wireless oMeniative
By Tracy R, Mesler
The brouhaha going on
Austin raises a number of
observations.
On equal footing and
flashing across the con-
sciousness almost simulta-
neously are:
Is the Republican Party
trying to commit suicide?
And Rick Perry has for-
gotten that a Scout is
"friendly, courteous and
kind" and that means tread-
ing carefully when disagree-
ing with a female politician.
Beating up on women, no
matter whether you agree or
disagree with their opinions,
is definitely un-Texan, and
the Republicans are coming
across, stress COMING
ACROSS, as women-bash-
ers. That may not be their
intent, but that is the mes-
sage "the whole world" is
receiving - and that is com-
ing off direct feeds not
political spin by one media
or another - as they try to
tell women what they can
and cannot do.
Apparently, the truth of
the matter is a majority of
Texans and roughly half of
the women in Texas are
opposed to abortions after
the 20th week. But getting
personal, rude and discour-
teous is never, ever appro-
priate - and especially when
those speakers are elected to
represent all Texans.
But getting personal they
are.
Then Lt. Gov. David
Dewhurst cannot even get
his act together to get the
bill through the Senate in
the waning minutes of the
first special session -
although he had to know
what his window of oppor-
tunity might be short. He
failed as the leader of his
senatorial chamber.
His ineptness in being
prepared for the has resulted
in one opponent announcing
his challenge of Dewhurst in
the next primary election.
Then, it appears, the
Republicans did not even
follow their own rules in
terms of addressing points
of order. Rules are made to
be followed. And our elect-
ed leaders, most of all,
should follow the rules, not
break them when it is con-
venient. When they set the
example by breaking the
rules, then they are declar-
ing either (a) they are high
and mighty and above the
rules, or (b) that it's okay to
break the rules and anarchy
will result.
And finally, the Senate,
in closed chambers, appar-
ently tried to "turn back the
clocks of time" and give
themselves more time to
sign the bill, after midnight
had struck, until they got
caught at it.
Now, as the second spe-
cial session begins, there are
reports that the Republican
leadership has turned off all
wireless connections in the
State Capitol. I guess if that
so, then they are hoping the
next time they are acting
like jackasses again they
won't suffer the indignities
of "the whole world is
watching?"
Now it is not certain
those reports are accurate as
Linda has been getting
Facebook reports from an
attorney friend all day from
the capitol. So maybe some-
one in the Republican Party
realized the world had seen
enough of their unveiled
backsides and any more
would just do the party no
good.
Keep this up,
Republicans, and the major-
ity of you will have to go
back to work for a living -
without the fawning syco-
phants who fail to tell you
that your backside is show-
ing.
As for our dear Gov.
Perry, beating up on a single
mother who worked her way
through Harvard Law
School is a lose-lose situa-
tion.
Instead of gracefully not-
ing that you each have dif-
fering views on the matter,
you had to, again, get small
and petty coming off as the
antithesis of "friendly, cour-
tesy and kind" when this
state was built upon a cul-
ture than men, gentlemen
were always "friendly, cour-
tesy and kind" to women.
Rick you failed as a
Texas gentleman, and you
failed Eagle Scout 101.
Maybe you should send
your medal back and find a
less friendly state to reside
in.
Remember! You can't get
your vehicle registered in
Montague County if you have
anoutstanding traffic ticket.
So take care of your
business before trying to.

Carla is the BEST friend
I have every had and we
have been friends for 39
years. She will do anything
for you and stand by you in
any situation. Carla was
diagnosed in January 2013
with breast cancer and it
had already progressed to
stage 3 and had spread to
her lymph nodes. She under
went 4 of 6 rounds of strong
chemo and during this time
she had several hospital
stays. The Dr. told her she
could have no more chemo
so at this point the next step
would be a mastectomy.
The surgery was June 5th
and she still has more treat-
ment to come. She has a
wonderful support system in
friends and family but her
number one fan and sup-
porter is God. Carla has a
very strong faith and knows
that God is in control of all
of this. Please give what
you can to help Carla and
her family.
