MU8KOG.bE, Okla.. Feb. 7.—Backed by
financiers of France, the Missouri, Okla-
homa & Gulf Railroad, which has just
been completed between Wagoner and
Calvin, will immediately be extended to
Denison, Tex.
It is strongly probable it will also be
extended from Wagoner to Kansas City.
The road as it now stands, was con-
structed with money furnished by the
sale of $3,000,Mo bonds to the France-
American and Soeiete Centrals de Provi-
dence banks of Paris, and has been ac-
cepted and will be formally delivered io
the French financiers within the next
ten days.
A cablegram was received here yester-
day by President Wm. Kenifick of the
road notifying him that the French
financiers now want the entire $3,u00,000
bond issues, which will complete the
road from Wagoner to Denison.
He will sail for Paris within the next
ten days to complete the negotiations.
President Kenifick left last night for
New York and Paris.

CHICO, Tex., Feb. 7.—The usual qui-
etude of Chico Sunday morning was
thrown into the greatest excitement today
when a telephone message was received
notifying the friends of Rev. W. J. Greg-
ory that at 3 o'clock this morning liis
residence, one mile southwest of this
place, was totally < estroyed by fire and
that the minister had lost his life, his
wife barely escaping in her night robes,
and walked nearh one-half mile to the
home of her son-in-law, Rev. M. l\
Carnes, where she gave the alarm.
The origin of the fire is unknown, but it
is believed by many to have been in-
cendiary, with robbery for its purpose.
There was something like JloOO, consist-
ing of banknotes:, gold and silver, in the
house at th. time and only $180 in gold
has been recovered.
When tie' charred body was taken from
the ruins it was found that the head and ,
lower limbs had been burned away, th* I
truntf only remaining. The house and
contents were a total loss, as was also
a smokehouse containing about 1000
pounds of pork.
Rev. Mr. Gregory was a pioneer min-
ister of the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church, and had been in active church
work for more than sixty-five years. He
was the founder of the Gregory Presby-

sessions. 11» passed his eighty eighth
