Chicago, Aug. 21. — A correspondent of
tin, evening 1'iut ami Mai! writing from
St. Chailes, in the vicinity of Bollevno
Asylum, says : "You will be glad to learn,
iiii'I this is tlio first public intimationot it,
that Mrs. Lincoln is pronoiineed wull en-
ough to leave the Asylum and visit her
sister, Mrs. Edwards, of Hpringtielil. It in
not likely she will return to Uellovue
place, as there is some fooling evincod in
tho mattor of her incarceration by friends
who refuse to believe her insane. A lead-
ing lady lawyer of Chicago lias been with
her much of lato, and with tho assistance
of her husband will assist Mrs. Lincoln's
restoration to tho world. She is decided-
ly bettor, sleeps and eats well, and shows
no tendency to any mania, but whether
tho euro is permanent or not the test of
;ictive life and time will prove.

Washington, August 20.—A telegram
received at the Navy Department, this
morning, from Captain Simpson, comman-
ding tho United Statos steamer Oucida,
dated Panama, August 10, announces the
death of Rear-Admiral Napoleon Collins,
commanding tho South Pacific tleet, which
neourrei at Callao on tho 0th inst. lie
died of erysipelas, after an illness of three
days, and was buried with military hon-
ors in the Protestant ceuietary at Belle
Nesta, near Callao. Rear-Admiral Reed
Wordeu lias boon ordered to the com-
mand of the South Pacific station, ill place
of Rear-Admiral Collins, and until his ar-
rival tbcre the command will devolve up-
on Captain Simpson. The death of lioar-
Adiniral Collins promotes Commodore
Stephen I). Treiichard, but does not affect
any otliuers below that grade, as there has
been as excess of ouo in the list of Com-
modores for some months pust, on account
of the reinstatement of Commodore John
C. Beaumont by Congress, last session.
The law allows but twenty-live officers of
the grade ot Commodores.
A BRILLIANT AFFAIll.
Southampton, August 20.—The banquet
to-night, to American naval officers, was
a brilliant affair. Among the guests, were
tho American Consul and a large number
of the leading merchants. Toasts to Queen
Viotoria and President Grant were drunk
with enthusiasm. Tho speeches were
very brief. Admiral Worden, in respond-
ing to the toast to "The American Navy,"
gave expression to his appreciatiun of tho
kind foaling which is everywhere enter-
tained by the people of England towards
the United Statos, and, in tho name ot his
Government and his country, reciprooated
the expressions of this good feeling.

out our entire country during the
Summer and Autumn, and remarka-
bly so during seasons of unusual
heat and dryness, are invariably ac-
companied by extensivo derange-
ments ol' tho stomach and liver, and
other abdominal viscera. Iu their
treatment, a purgative, exerting a
powerful inlluenco upon theso vari-
ous organs, is essentially necessary.
There is no cathartic for tho purpose
equal to Dk. J. Walker's ViNEOAit
Bittkks, as they will speedily remove
the dark-colored viscid matter with which
tho bowels are loaded, at tho same time
stimulating tbo secrotions of the liver,
and generally restoring the healthy func-
tions of tho digestivo organs.
Fortify the body against dis-

intractable cases.
For Inflammatory and Chronic
Rheumatism, Gout, Bilious, Remit-

whatever name or nature, are literally
dug up and carried out of the system in a
short time by tho use of these Bitters.
Pin, Tape, and other Worms,
lurking in tho system of so many thou-
sands, are effectually destroyed and re-
moved. No system of medicine, no ver-

For Female Complaints, in young
