There will be a delegated Republican
Convention of the Sixth Congressional Dis-
trict at Terrell, on Wednesday, April 10,
1884, for the purpose oi electing two Dele-
gates and two Alternates to represent the
Republicans of this Congressional District
in the National Republican Convention at
Chicago, Illinois, June 3, 1884.
Also to select an Executive Committee
for the ensuing two years, and the transae-
tion of such other business as may be
brought before the Convention. The Con-
vention will be called to order at 1 o'clock,
p.m.

Sheriff Smith has returned from his trip
to Mexico iu pursuit of Morgan Cammack.
A portion of the ''Salvation Army" has
struck the city, and purpose holding the
eitv down for a month.
R. E. Cowart has gone to Austin to ap-
pear bat'are the Court of Appeals as coun-
sel for the gamblew in the cases carried up
from the County Court of Dallas.
The Texas and Pacific Railroad company,
through its land department at this city,
has sold to the Magnolia Cattle Company
& large body of land in Bordon county at
$3 per acre and were paid 1,000 cash in
hand.

The Dallas County Republican Campaign
Club meets every Wednesday and Saturday
evening at 8 o'clock, in Turner Hall. A
cordial invitation is extended to all Repub-
licans to attend.

rje qquuty, Quebec, are officially re-
pouted as infected with disease.
The Republicans of Dallas county are
requested to meet at the Court House, in
the City of Dallas, at 2 o'clock p.m. (city
time) on the 12th day of April, 1884, for the1
following purposes, to-wit:—
To elect ten Delegates and ten Alter-
nates to represent Dallas county iu tho
State Convention, to be held at Fort Worth,
April 29th, 1884.
And to elect ten Delegates and ten Alter-
nates to represent Dallas county in the
Congressional Convention, to be" held at
Terrell, Texas, on April 16th, 1884.
And to elect a Chairman, Secretary and
County JLxecutive Committee, to serve the
ensuing two years.
And to transact such other business as
may be properly brought before the Con-
vention.
All Republicans in the county are ear-
nestly urged to attend.

As Secretary of the Dallas county repub-
lican Exeoutive Committee, of w hich the
late Colonel John A. Mann was Chairman,
and after consultation with and the hearty
concurrence of a very large majority of the
committee and members of the Convention
that appointed said chairman and com-
mittee, I fully recognise the authority ot
Mr. Ravner to make the call as above and
cordially approve of the same.

Convention.
Whereas, a call has been issued by
the Republican State Executive Com-
mittee for the assembling of dele-
gates from the various counties of
Texas in a State Convention at Fort
Worth, on the 29th day of April, 1884,
for the following purposes:—
'■1. To elect four (4) Delegates for
the State at large, and four (4) Al-
ternates to represent the State at the
National Republican Convention, to
be held at Chicago, 111., June 3rd,
1884.
2. To nominate Presidential elec-
tors.
3. To nominate or provide a State
Republican Ticket for the ensuing
November Election.
4. To elect a Chairman State Re-
publican Executive Committee and
Secretary therefor, and define the
duties and powers of said Committee.
5. And to transact such other bus-
iness as may be properly brought
before it.
6. The basis of representation for
Delegates to this Convention, and to
elect Delegates to the National Con-
vention shall be one (1) for every 250
or fraction of 250 votes cast for
Davis, and one (1) for every 1,000 or
traction of 1,000 votes cast for Roberts
in 1880."
Uuder this basis Dallas County is
entitled to ten Delegates.
In the absence of a Chairman of
any County Executive Committee, or
in case of any Chairman failing to
make a call for a County Convention
as herein prescribed, then the Repub-
licans of said County are directed to

of Dallas County are in a disorgan-
ized condition—having had two com-
mittees, each with a Chairman—and
the Chairman of the one Committee
(Col. John A Mann) having deceased,
aud the Chairman of the other Com-
mittee having failed to issue a call—
and if issued his authority to speak
would only be for a portion of the
party—
Therefore in consonance with the
directions of Hon. C. C. Binklev,
Chairman of the Republican State
Executive Committee, in his procla-
mation, we, the undersigned Republi-
cans of the Couuty of Dallas, do
hereby call upon all the Republicans
of said County to assemble on the 12th
day of April, 1884, in mass, at 8.30
o'clock pm., at the Court House, in
the City of Dallas, and organize by
electing Chairman and Precinct Com-
mittees and electing Delegates and Al-
ternates to the Congressional State
Conventions.
In the interest of union and har-
mony we make this call, and earnestly
urge all Republicans to lay aside all
factional views, discard all feuds and
come together ouch more to act in
concert for the good of tho Repub-
lican party aud the welfare of tiic
country.
