COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
313.-General Physiology. A general study of the human
mechanism, including laboratory experiments and work in mammal
dissection. No prerequisite, but a knowledge of Freshman
Zoology recommended. Text: Martin's Human Body (eleventh
edition.) Two hours recitation, three hours laboratory, and one
hour library work. Not credited until after 323 is taken. Fall
Quarter.
323.-General Physiology. A continuation of Biology 313.
A detailed study of organs and their functions. Two hours recitation
and three hours laboratory work. Library assignments.
Prerequisite 313. Winter Quarter.
345.-Heredity. A study of the Mendelian laws and their
application in both plants and animal. Some time devoted to
the various phases of the theories of Evolution and the objections
to each. Special study of inheritance in man. Library
assignments, including study of the Kallikak, Juke, Edwards,
Zero, and other families. This will be supplemented by studies
of easily isolated characters in families investigated by the student.
Text: Walter's Genetics. Prerequisite, Zoology 113. 123,
133, or Botany 145.
315.-Thallophytes. A study of algae and fungi with emphasis
upon fungi of economic importance. Two hours lecture
and six hours laboratory.
CHEMISTRY
115.-Inorganic Chemistry. A general introduction to the
fundamental principles of inorganic chemistry. Three hours
lecture-recitation and four hours laboratory. Fall Quarter. Also
offered Winter and Summer Quarters if sufficient demand.
125.-Inorganic Chemistry. A continuation of course 115.
This course must be completed before credit is given for 115.
Three hours lecture-recitation and four hours laboratory. Winter
Quarter.
215.-Qualitative Analysis. Lectures and laboratory study
of the theories and methods of qualitative analysis.
225.-Qualitative Analysis. Laboratory work principally.
More advanced work in qualitative analysis.
235.-Food Analysis. A practical course in the study of a
large number of food products; their composition, adulteration,
and general uses. Three hours lecture and four hours laboratory.
