BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
BLANCHE LOWE GROVE SCHOLARSHIP FUND. The late Dr. Roxy
Harriett Grove left to Howard Payne College a fund creating
scholarships in memory of her mother, Mrs. Blanche Lowe Grove.
Mrs. Grove was a member of the early faculties of Howard Payne
College.
H. L. LOCKER SCHOLARSHIPS. Dr. and Mrs. H. L. Locker grant
annually ten full scholarships from the Locker Endowment Fund.
MORROW SCHOLARSHIP. Mrs. Genevieve Morrow of Houston
gives a scholarship to a worthy student majoring in English, Agriculture
or Music, or to a ministerial or Latin-American student.
JAMES LOWRY SMITH MEMORIAL FUND
Mr. J. A. Walker has given $5,000 as endowment of a loan
fund in memory of his life time friend and partner, the late James
Lowry Smith of Amarillo, Texas. The interest from the fund will
be used for loans to students of outstanding scholarship, character
and personality whose lives may become memorials to a great
friend of Christian Education.
Young people who desire to make application for loans from
these funds should write to the president for application blanks.
EXPENSES
All charges for board, tuition and fees for the semester of
eighteen weeks must be arranged in advance at the business office,
before class tickets are issued for meals and class attendance. Beginning
with the session of 1947-1948, Howard Payne College
abolished matriculation or entrance fees, activity fees, and laboratory
fees. Special lesson fees are retained for certain types of
instruction in fine arts, etc.
