Telephone Wire
Cut to Pieces by
Bolt of Lightning
(Templt Telegram 8peclal.)
Bronte, Tex., April 6.—Lightning
wrought a freak in its effects on a
telephone wire during the rain and
electrical storm that passed over this
place last night. The lightning struck
the wires connected with the residence
of Mack Hereon, in the northeastern
part of town. It cut the wires Into
pieces ranging in length from four
inches to fifteen feet, for a distance
of about 150 yards. Some of the
longer pieces were found scattered on
the ground this morning, and in many
Instances the wires were found to
have lapped over each other and for a
distance of twelve to fifteen Inches
they were found to be perfectly
welded together, the wires having
melted from the intense heat of the
lightning and run together; hence,
when they cooled the weld was per-
fection Itself.

All Streams Receding.
All Bell county streams were re-
ceding yesterday from the floods fol-
lowing the heavy downpour early in
the week. The smaller streams ran
down quickly and Little River was
reported early last night to have
fallen about four feet from Its highest
mark and was still falling slowly. The
Leon continued to fall all day yester-
day, the reported rise from rains
upstream falling to materialize. Traf-
fic was resumed over the Temple-
Belton lnterurban yesterday morning.
Damage from washouts along the
highways would not be as heavy, it
was thought yesterday, as it was fear-
ed at first. Several small bridges or
culverts, however, were damaged by
the floods.
Yesterday was like an early summer
day, with no visible indications of
resumption of rainy weather.
