Believing that there are evils in
this city that can be eliminated by a
itrict enforcement of the law, and
realizing that these evils threaten the
best moral and religious interests of
this city, we, the undersigned clti-
sens of Temple do hereby pledge our
Selves in favor of law enforcement
and against these evils.
We call upon the officers of the
city and county to fulfill their oath
of office by arresting and punishing
those violators of the lay who are en-
gaged in promoting certain evils in
our city.
We further stand ready to be tail-
ed togetuer m a mass meeting to per-
fect an organization, iof law enforce-
ment, whenever such oiganized move
ineut is deemed necessary b> a com-
mittee, which committee shall be the
Board ol Managers of the Young
Men's Christian Association of this
City, than whom there is no body of
men in ihe town who should be more
interested in eliminating all vices
which have as their end the ruin and
downfall of the young wen of Tem-
ple.
in case such organization shall be
deemed necessary, we agree that our
names shall be transferred from this
paper to the roils of the organisa-
tion, and we pledge our support fi-
nancially and otherwise.
We instruct the Board of I>irectors
Of the V. M. C. A. to write jseraonal
letters to the various officers, whose
duties it is to torce the law regulat-
ing these vices, and demand froai
them as to their intentions with ref-
erences to these vices which shall be
named and which exist in our city*
We agree that this movement shall
not only be one seeking to extermi-
nate the evils referred to but one
that shall neek in all Uqae to come (0
prevent their vcluroing to this city.
