sion of about four weeks, yes-
terday concluded their labors.
They found ninety-one indict-
ments iu all, many of them for
violations of the State revenue
laws. The District Clerk, Mr.
J. L. Moore says the grand jury
made no written report and that
no grand jmvy has done so for
several years.

Ivory Wheat, Mr. A. M.
Thaxton, who resides seven mi-
les cast of Brenham, yesterday
brought to the Banner office
two heads of ivory wheat. He
obtained the seed iroin Dr. Shel-
ton, of Burleson county, and
planted it about the 1st ot April.
It is nearly matured. Mr. Tliax-
ton is confident that it will pro-
duce at least one hundred bush-
els to the acre. It grows well
ofi any yfrdinary soil. The flour
from it'said to make excellent

superior to buckwheat. It is

Council of the city of Brenham,
1st. That an election be and is here
by ordered to be held iu the several
wards Of the city on the first Saturday
in August next, A. D. 1877, the 4t,h day
thereof, for the purpose of deciding ag
to whether or lot the said tax of (14)
one fourth of (1) one per cent, for the
support of the public free schools ot
the city of Brenham shall be levied
ard collected.
2d. And that the following named
