Prior to enrolling in
Cedar Hill Schools,
Miss Allen had attend-
ed public school in La-
mesa and Denver City.
She won the annual Sci-
ence Club Award at La-
mesa High School at the
end of the 1971 - 72
school year and was
also a member of the
Lamesa'" Tornado
Choir. " ~
She planned to return
to classes atHardingin
the fall.
Funeral services
will be conducted today
(Thursday, June 6) at
Cedar Hill Church of
Christ at 10 a.m. Min-
isters Duglas Rohre,
W. T. Hamilton and J.
D. Boren will officiate.

78, died Tuesday, May
28, in a Dallas hospi-
tal.
A Dallas County res-
ident all of her adult
life, she lived at 2922
Duncanville Road in
Duncanville. She was
borrf June 23, 1895, in
Texas and was a mem-
ber of Cockrell Chapel
United Methodist
Church in Dallas.
Her husband, Alfred
Dreckshage, preceed-
ed her in death in 1972.
Survivors include
two sisters, Mrs. Bes-
sie Whatley of Bethel,
Oklahoma, and Mrs.
Guy Eva Becker of
Paris, Texas; and a
number of nephews and *
nieces.

enjoyed a very good
year. Some highlights

gates to the State Con-
vention in Austin.
Participation in the
Cultural Arts exhibit
where Cedar Hill had
four winners and one
honorable mention out
of more than 4,000en-
tries.
Representation by a
dozen members at the
Spring Conference in
Garland and 15 at the
banquet.
There is a place for
everyone in PTA, so
next' fall plan to get
involved.
First speaker for
next year's programs
will be Mrs. Georgia
Kim be 11 member of the
State Board of Educa-
tion.
And PTA wants to
hear from you! That's
what PTA is all about
bringing about a
closer relationship and

brary last week to prepare for summer read-
ing. Mrs. Traphene Hickman, librarian,
showed the youngsters all about locating and
checking out books. ,

Kirk Receives
Scholarship
Doyle Kirk was a-
warded a $250 scholar-
ship by Cedar Hill PTA
at 1974 graduation ex-
ercises at Cedar Hill
High School Thursday
night, May 30.
Kirk plans to use the
scholarship in his
studies to be a chef.
The PTA serves both
the high school and
middle school.
The group also do-
nated $150 to the CHHS
Music Department to
be used toward the pur-
chase of a piano.
Funds for the schol-
arship and donations
were raised through a
"Potpourri Drawing"
conducted between acts
of "Bye, Bye Birdie"
near the end of the
school year. More than
700 tickets were sold
for the drawing and
winners included:
Margie Jones, Mary
Romero, George Ship-
ley, Don Newton, Sha-
ron Lewis, Vi Russell,
Arthur Murphy, Fran-
ces Haswell and Lu
Anne Worley.
