A Runaway and a House Warming.
Mrs. Grawnnda, who resides near
Phillipsburg, six miles southeast of
the city, was here a few days ago to
invito some of her friends to a house
warming to bo given at her new resi-
dence next Sunday. On her return
home in a wagon driven by a hired
man, when near Rosedale the team
got frightened at something and
dashed off, turning the wagon over as
it struck a stout fence post, and Mrs.
G raw mi da was buried beneath the
debris. The driver not noticing her
perilous position ran after the team
and caught them, and returning to the
seeno of the wrecked wagon found
Mrs. G. still under the wagon unable
to extricate herself. He got her out
patched up the wagon so that it could
be carried home.
At last accounts Mrs. G. was im-
proving from her bruises and will in
all probability be able to entertain
the friends she has invited to tho
house warming.

quet was served, and a pleasant hour
spent around the festive board. Among

The Stage.
The Banner is not in the habit of
"roasting" the attractions at the
Grand, recognizing the fact that the
patronage of the theater here is not
sufficient to induce the most world-
renowned to clamor for dates at this
place, and what attractions we do
have should not be criticised from
a too ideal standpoint, and usually
when the attraction possesses any
merit it is given credit for it, and
its defects scanned lightly. "Little
Trixie" hold the boards Friday night,
and while the audience was by no
means a large one, the play was a
pretty small affair itself. The dancing
was fairly good, but the play was al-
most without a plot, aud the audience
seemed tired at Its conclusion.
A Big Wedding.
Messrs. E. G. Laughammer, Fd.
Anisler and Frank Haubelt were
among the Brenliani attendants at the
wedding of Mr. Wm. Reich and Miss
Minnie Schroeder at the residence ol
the bride's parents near Phillipsburg,
Thursday, and from them it is learned
that this was one of tho most largely
attended and elaborate affairs of the
kind that has been in Washington
county for some time. The happy-
couple were married at 10 o'clock by
Rev. Fiedler, alter which there was a
feast to the guests, which included 80
families, numbering hundreds. The
Banner extends congratulations and
wishes for the happy couple a contin-
uation of the auspicious start they
have made in the "new life."
