An ordinances pro nbiting any person
from keepmg any railway train over any
street crossing for a longer period than five
minutes at any one lime and fixing a pen-
alty for a violation of the same and re-
pealing all ordinances in conflict with this
ordinance.
Be it ordained by the city council of the
:il of Brenham.
1st, It shall be unlawful to permit any
car or engine to stand on any street cross-
ing within the corporate limits of the city
Brenham for a longer time than five min-
utes at any *ne time.
2, Any conductor engineer or any other
person having immediate cootrol of such
car or engine violating the provisions of
section one of this ordinance shall, upon
conviction before the mayor, be fined in
any sum not less than ten nor more than
one hundred dollars.
3, That ordinance No. 256 and )he
ameendments thereto, passed April 30th
1880, be acd the same are hereby repeal-
ed
4th, That (his ordinance lake effect and
go into force from and after its passage.

AN ORDINANCE
To provide for the registration and pay-
ment of the llonting debt of the city,
Be it ordained by the city council of the
city of Brenham,
Sec. I. That all holders of orders on
the treasurer, warrants or other script of
the city, drawn against the general fund,
and issued prior to May 1st, 1883, be and
arc hereby required to present the same to
the treasurer for registration before pay
mcnt thereof.
Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of the tr^as
urer to register such script in a book to be
kept for that purpose in the order in which
it is presented, staling the number and
date of such script, the date of registration,
the name of the payee, and the amount for
which it is drawn.
Sec. 3. When a claim has been regis
tered the treasurer shall write on the nice
of the same, its registered number, the
word "registered." th<

Sec. 4. No script or other warrant or
order drawn against the gtneral fund prior
to May 1st, 18S3, shall be paid by the
treasurer unless the same has been duly
registered, and then only in the order in
which it is registered, and out of the fund
created for that purpose.
Sec. 5. Il shall be the duty of the city
council to create and establish for the pay-
ment of such scrim a fund to be entitled
the "floating debt" fund, which said fund
shall be created by the appropiation from
tiuie to time of such surplus funds as may
remain after providing for the current ex-
penses of the city, or in such other man-
ner as may be hereafter provided.
Sec. 6. Nothing in this ordinance
shall be taken or construed to effect the
status of script heretofore issued for the
purchase of streets, which shall be paid as
stipulated in the face thereof without reg-
istration.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall go into
effect and have force from and after its
passage.

ed a meeting of all the stockholders of said
company, to beheld at ltsolHce In this city,
on the 1st day ol August, 1888, at the hour
of 11 m., for theponrposeof considering and
determining as to the necessity for construct-
ing, comploiiitg, Improving ai d operating
its Rallwav, by the Issuance, sale ami dis-
posal, by said company, of Second Mortgage
Bonds of said company, In sums ol one

exceed thirteen thousand dollars per mile on
the main track of said company's railway,

Said Bonds to run for forty years, from

AN ORDINANCE
To provide for the payment of the current
expenses of the [city for the months of
April, May, June, July and August, 1883.
Be it ordained by thc"City Council of
the City of Brenham,
That, whereas it is nccessary to provide
for the paymenf of the current expenses of
the city until its revenue derivable from its
occupation taxes is collectable. Therefore,
Sue. 1. The Mayor and Finance Com-
mittee of the Cily Council are hereby em-
powered and instructed to contract to pay
interest to some responsible person who
will cash the warrants of the cily drawn
against the general fund for officers sala-
ries and other current expenses for the
months of April, May,'June, July and Au-
gust, 1883.
Sec 2. Said' contract'shall provide for
the payment to holders of the face value
of their warrants,"and; shall obligate the
city to pay interest thereon not to exceed
twelre per cent per annum for such time
as may be until said warrants arc paid by
the treasurer of the city.
Sec. 3. The sum of one hundred dol-
lars, or so much thereof as may be neces-
sary, is hereby appropriated (or the pur-
pose of paving such interest as may be
contracted for and incurred.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall go into ef-
fect and hate force from and after its pas-

AN ORDINANCE
To declare and definitely establish a por-
tion of the western boundary line of
Market street in the City of Brenham.
Be it ordained by the Cdy council of the
City of Brenham,
Sec. i. That whereas il is desirable to
fix and more definitely ascertain a portion
of the western boundary line of Market
street in the City of llrenhain, the follow-
ing line is hereby fixed and established as
the western boundary line of that portion
of the said Market street lying between the
southeast corner of Bassett & Bassett's
banking house and the road bed of the
II. & 1. C. R. R. Co. Beginning at the
southeast corner of Bassett & Bassett's
banking house, a permanent fixture, as a
starting point and running from said cor-
ner of said house S. 12 1-2 E. at a varia-
tion of 10 degrees, a direct line to the H.
& T. C. Ry., track, which said line is
declared to be S, 77 0, W. 25 feet, from an
iron pin set in said Market street, which,
said pin i3 N. 77, E. 25 feet from the be-
ginning point of the line herein established
and one of which pins is N, 77, E. 25 feet
from the terminus of the line herein estab-
lished.
Sec. 2. That this ordinance have force
and go into effect from and after the day
of its passage.
