Mb. Alison has lost another fine
cow. Numbers have died lately in
the city mysteriously, and the owners
have about come to the conclusion,
that it was caused by eating cotton
seed which had been poisbned in the
field on account of worms. This may
be true, though it is difficult to see
how enough poison could adhere to
the particle of lint on the seed to
poison an animal.

Tuesday night was carried out as
published, greatly to tie entertain-
ment of the audience. Prof. Fon-
taine read several poems composed
during the troublous times of the
civil war aad giving a fail' idea oi
the state of feeling then existing.
Miss May Fontaine gave a song
which was highly appreciaied by*
the audience. Her voice is exquis-
itely sweet and reveals a degree of
artistic culture rarely attained.
The song by Miss Flynne and
Mrs. Smith was tendered with great
skill and effect.
The audience was comfortably
large and the anrdl boy unusually
