Last week the Governor
and Dr. Tabor, State Health of-
ficer issued a proclamation or
more properly a plea to the citi-
zens' of towns and villages to
clean up their townsand kill out
the mosquitos. The Yellow fey-
er is now in various localities in
Mexico. As long as this is true
a case of Yellow fever may occur
at any point in Texas. If it
should be in a place abounding in
filth and mosquitos a local epi
demic would do sure to occur.
No telling how widely it would
spread, how many lives would be
lost to say nothing of the damage
to business and property.
Whereas if the town were reason-
ably clean and free from mos-
quitos there would be .no danger
of the fever spreading. The
Governor and Health Officer ad-
vise and pray that people may
clean up their towns and keep
them clean and utterly extermi
nate the mosquitos. Let it be
done.

consultation is tne order ot tne
day. Alton A. Parker seems to
grow in strength as the delegat-
ions are heard from and the wise
men of the party predict that he
will be nominated for president
of the United States on the seo-
ond if not o'n the first ballot. No
candidate for vice-president has
appeared in the lead if there is
one at ajl though some able dem-
ocrat from Indiana will probaly
bo chosen. Then it will bo such
a race as never before occured in
the United States, New York and
Indiana against New York and
Indiana, Roosevelt and Fair-

The Japs are reported to have
taken three forts on the outer line
of the defenses of Port Arthur.
This puts them in positioVi to
make the final assault and cap-
ture as most people believe will
be the result. About one hun-
dred and twenty-five miles north
of Port Arthur on the railroad
the mainland forces of both
armies are getting close together
only some ten or- fifteen miles
apart. Heavy skirmishing oc
curs daily. They will have to get
further apart soon or a big pitch-
ed battle seems to be inevitable,
or one or the other1 of the armies
will have to retreat. Very few
people believe it will be the little
brown fellows the Japs. No,
they have been pushing the Rus-
sians back all the time and there
is no reason, to believe they will
fail to keep it up.
Articles of incorporation of the

purpose to manufacture machines
which the promoters claim will
destroy boll weeyils. The in-
corporators are all Texas people.
This is the first corporation for
this purpose aver filed.
The Georfetown Ginning Co.,
composed principally of Swedish
farmers hail been organized and
will be incorporated in a few
days. They have bought Mr. J.
W. Gray's; gin at the old Whittol
