Splish and splash for half price at
the Community Park pool on Mon-
day, Sept. 1.
The pool, normally closed on
Mondays, will open for the annual
Labor Day Splash.
Bake sale
to benefit
school team
The Port Aransas High School
Cross-Country Team will hold a
second fundraising bake sale at the
Family Center IGA on Sunday, Aug.
31, from 8 a.m. to noon. The first was
on Saturday, Aug. 23.
The bake sale will raise money to
help the team take an overnight trip to
Round Rock to run in a cross-country
meet..
“It is the same course as the state
meet,” said Steve Reaves, coach of
the cross-country team. “Just a little
incentive for the kids, plus a fun
trip.”
Blood drive
today at IGA
Give blood, get a shirt, grab a bite
and maybe win a prize. Put all that on
your to-do list for today.
The Coastal Bend Blood Center is
holding a blood drive in Port Aransas
today, Thursday, Aug. 28.
The donation center will be in the
Family Center IGA parking lot, 418 S.
Alister, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Donors will be entered in a drawing
for a Coastal Bend Blood Center grill
set, and each will receive a T-shirt and
a Whataburger coupon.
Davidson earns
Del Mar degree
Andy Davidson of Port Aransas
received an Associate of Arts degree
from Del Mar Community College on
Friday, Aug. 15.
Davidson, who lives in Port
Aransas, earned his degree in busi-
ness administration.
Lap swimming will be allowed
from noon to 1 p.m. and open swim
will be from 1 to 6 p.m.
The discount rate, courtesy of the
City of Port Aransas Parks and Rec-
reation Department will be: under 2
free, 50 cents for 2 -18, $1 for 19 - 59
and 50 cents for 60+. The pool is at
700 Clark Blvd., off Ross Avenue.
