Zeta Phi Beta to honor graduates today
Zeta Phi Beta will host a cake-cutting ceremony honoring Lamar’s
African-American graduates today at noon in the Setzer Student
Center. Everyone is invited to attend.

City of Beaumont to paint homes
The City of Beaumont will participate in the 7th annual Keep
Beaumont Beautiful Paint-a-thon on Saturday.
This year, 32 homes of low income seniors and disabled Beaumont
residents will be painted by more than 600 volunteers from area busi-
nesses, civic and religious organizations.
The Valspar Corp. initiated the paint-a-thon in 1989. Valspar provid-
ed all the paint in the colors of the homeowners’ choices. Homes are
selected according to financial need, condition of th house, the ability
and availability of volunteers.

Calvary Baptist Church to hold student night
Evangelist Ken Freeman will be guest speaker at Calvary Baptist
Church’s student night Monday at 7 p.m.
In addition Freeman, illusionist William Stogner and recording
artist Tom McCain will be on hand to entertain those in attendance.
The event is sponsored by the Calvary Student Ministry. For more

Student support services to host banquet
Student support services will host its first awards banquet May 4 at
6:30 p.m. in the Setzer Student Center.
The banquet will honor those students who have made an extra
effort to succeed in their studies and graduate. Students will have an
opportunity to meet with university administrators, faculty and staff
The theme of the banquet is “Celebrating Multiculturalism and
Academic Excellence.”
Students who belong to the Student Support Services program and
a guest are welcome to attend.
Donations are being taken for door prizes.

Church to sponsor carnival
Calvary Baptist Church will host a spring festival carnival on May 7
from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will be used to send needy kids to summer
camp.

the day one week prior to publication. Priority is given to upcoming
events. Announcements listings appointments of officers and members
