tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 27, at
9 a.m.
Each month the City of Port
Aransas Parks and Recreation
Department offers a free, guid-
ed beach walk for visitors and
residents to leam about all the
treasures that wash ashore on
Mustang Island beaches.
Participants are invited to
meet guide Shirley Fischer on
the beach under the purple flag
near Horace Caldwell Pier.
Combers should wear sun-
screen, appropriate shoes, hats
and clothing and bring a con-
tainer for any treasures found.
The walks are held on the
fourth Friday of each month.

munity Theatre to honor its
2011 season talent.
The stars and support
members from last year’s
theatre productions will be
recognized at the ninth an-
nual Sandy Awards, PACT’S
own version of the Tony
Awards.
Who stood out in “Opal’s
Baby,” “Tuna Christmas,”
“Kitchen Witches,” “Dear
Edwina Jr.,” “Seussical Jr.,” “A
Month of Sundays” and “Port
A Christmas Carol?” You’ll
have to be there to find out,
when envelopes are opened
and awards are presented.
Set for Sunday, Jan. 29, at 7
p.m., adult and youth awards
will be presented for best ac-
tress and actor, best support-
ing actress and actor, best vo-
calists, male and female; best
set design, best costuming,
best director, best production
and a special award for best
PACT supporter of 2011.
Winners are being selected
by PACT member votes.
This red carpet event will
feature hor d’oeuvres and
spirits at 7 p.m. Entertain-
ment will include excerpts
from the year’s productions.
Emcees will be Tanya Cham-
bers and Phyllis Layne, with
awards presented by surprise
guests.

attend the awards celebra-
