After all the trick or .reaters had
gone away, our doorbell rang for the
climax of the evening. On the porch
stood three creatures out of the twi-
light zone Their heads covered with
nylon hose, they wore wretched
garbs and the first carried a pitch-
fork. With ny mouth open tnd .he
bowl of candy held out, I recovered
my wits as LORA MAE BRASHEAR
stuck the pitchfork into the bowl of
candy while DORIS EVANS AND
JEAN BOWLES cried, "Alms! Alms
for the poor."

Someone was having trouble
getting the hd off one of those glass
sugar containers at the lunchrohm the
other day Wanted to put sugar in his
coffee. After trying to unscrew the
metal lop of the sugar jar, like Jiose
in the restaurants, he handed it to
WAYNE HILL to see if Hill could
manage it. Hill took the glass con-
tainer and did the natural thing He
tapped it against the table to loosen
thee top When it unexpectedly shat-
tered, Hill never changed expression.
Just handed the buttum half of.
jar back and said, "Will that do?"

Did it rain Halloween night or
were there just an awful lot of kids
throwing water balloons? This is the

Is there anything that smells as
good as homemade bread? Or any
bigger letdown than smelling it and
not getting to eat any? That happen-
ed to Margaret and Norton Barrett
Seems Brenda Suther made some rolls
and gave some to Robert Barrett.
Robert took ihem£jmme ond Norton
suggested they heat them and eat
them right away. Robert put them in
the oven, but before his parents rea-
lized they were warm there wasn’t
a crumb left And they’d smelled so
good, too.

If you have questions concerning
parks and wildlife regulations you
may get answers at the Sportsman
Club wild game dinner November 10.
Tentative plans call for the program
to be presented by the Game Ward-
en, who, the program works out,
will explain lake regulations and
answer questions such as on coast
guard approved life jackets, boat
owner’s permit and various other
topics.
