Our neighbors a couple of towns west of here
are now doing without a newspaper end HAVE
to get along on word of mouth news and adver-
tising or make do with some out of town media.
Visit with soma of the Lorenao folks and tea if
they miss the weekly paper.
Most of our thriving local businesses are reg-
ular believes i n advertising the products they
wa nt to sell. They also know that they must
offer their product at a good price, with effic-
ient service o r no matter how big the ad they
won't make a sale.
Advertising li not the business of this report-
er, but It pays the faight which enables the
readen to find out what's going on in their com-
munity besides helping the housewife locate
bargains in food and clothing, the farmer knows
where to buy a p 16 w or hire a hand, the auto
owner learnt where to find tires at a special
price...
Fellow the other day stated, "We aren't ma-
king enough out o f it (meaning what they had
to tall) to afford advertising. "
Well, buddy, what If the man who thought
up and tried to sell Coca-Cola had taken that

run the local school a year and it Isn't even
among the big 'uni. The board members and
administration are doing a good job o f keeping
the education programs as up to par as poerible
despite the teacher shortages and increasing
costs for teachers, materials and maintenance.
Crosbyton School Board
members Tuesday night studied
a proposed budget for 1968-69
which is about $100 less than
tbc budget for this year, but
which calls for more funds than
9 5 percent collections o f the
tax roll next fall would bring
in.
The proposed budget calls
for $197,792 in loca 1 funds.
Board members will study the
budget further and will hold a
public hearing Thursday, Aug-
ust 8, before adopting the

Supt. Hawkes pointed out
that the school went Into the
1967- 68 school year with a bal-
ance of approximately $10,000

"Only requirement for mem-
bership, " stated Glenn Watts,
Chamber of Commerce mana-
ger, "is an interest In seeing
Crosbyton move forward. "

Chamber of Commerce for $2
per month dues. A small, one-

men were near the boat ramj

was reported, and decided to
swim acroas to a bank 50-75
yards away.
Bowman had almost reached
