Arrest of Two Men Named Pipes
and Herndon,
Charged with Being Train Bob-

THE TEXAS l'ACIFIC.
The House Judiciary Committee
pave ntmthor hearing on the T>**as
Pacific railroad title to-day. Scott’s
side occupied all the time. Maj.
Turner, of Texas, addressed t’ne
committee in support of the title of
the Texas Pacific road. He explain-
ed the legislation of Texas, and sup-1 robberies,
plemented the remarks of Governor
Brown at a previous heaving. It is
claimed by the Scott representatives
j that the Texas Pacific has three Jis-
tinet titles, first from the State of
Texas organizing the Southern Pa-
cific road; second, a charter from
Texas for a trans-continental road;
I and third, the title acquired from the
Memphis and El Paso. The bond-
holders will be heard again next
Wednesday, and will argue that the
titles from the state of Texas were
not good on account of the priority
of the Memphis and El Paso char-
ter, and that Scott is really building
the road under that charter, Xo
matter what decision the committee
may render on this point, counsel
will further insist that the transfi r of
the charter of the Memphis and El
Paso road to Scott shall be investi-
gated.
THE NEW SILVER DOLLAR.
The director of the mint is in-
formed that the coinage of the new
dollar has been commenced at the
Carson City mint, coining having
been commenced at San Francisco
last Wednesday. All the mints
now in operation are at work on
the standard silver dollar. The
mint at Philadelphia has coined from
April ist to the lyth, inclusive, i,-
300,000 standard silver dollars.
This, added to the amount coined in
! March, makes the whole amount
coined at that mint, $2,301,500.

FEVER AND AGUE.
The prisoners were taken directly
to the jail, where numbers of people
began flocking in hopas of getting a
glimpse of the men, but the majority
of them were doomed to disappoint-
ment, Sheriff Moon having issued
orders not to let them in, and so the
idle curiosity of, a large number of
people went unsatisfied.

Pipes was arrested about ten miles
north of this city, at the residence of
Mr. Albert Collins, an old and re-
spected fanner, while Herndon was
arrested at the house or Thomas J.
Jackson, eight miles lrom the city,
where he was stopping.
They are both young men. Hern-
don is about twenty-two and Pipes
about twenty-five years of age. They
are of good address and lively dispo-
sition. Both are of nice, respectable
families, and the arrests have created
a good deal of surprise among some
of our citizens, yet it is learned from
a strictly reliable source that the oili-
cers knew whereof they reckoned,

that cannot at present be made pub-

of age, who is subject to Chills. When-

takes a dose of Vegetine and that is the
last of the chill. Vegetine leaves no bad
effect on the system like most of the med-
icines recommended for Chills. I cheer-
fully recommend Vegetine for such com-
plaints. I think it it is the greatest med-
icine in the world. Respectfully.
MRS. J. W. LLOYD.
