Walter Jennings Has
Shown Marvelously
How Firm Can Grow
As showing in a marvelous way
how a business can grow in friend-
ly Denison, Walter Jennings, who
started hack March 1, 1931 an
founder and owner of the business
which bears the name of Walter
Jennings Furniture, the business
has expanded until today it is
among the larger ones of its kind
in North Texas.
From three employees it has de-
veloped until today some 15 are
on the regular payroll and the
trucks go many miles in every di-
rection to deliver goods to their
clients in an ever-expanding trade
circle.
Until 1946 Mr. Jennings was
owner and manager at which time
Neil Shirley was sold a half inter-
est in the business and became as-
sociated as an active partner ami
assistant manager.
The firm handles a complete
no of furniture for every use in
the modern home, with a wide va-
riety of designs and colors. Along
with their Immense stock of fur-
niture they carry a complete
stock of home appliances including
ranges, washing machines, freez-
ing units, and other conveniences
to shorten the labor of the house-
wife und make for home efficien-
cy.
In the record department, Mrs.
Shirley is in charge and a large
stock of records is always on hand.
Of special interest to the house-
automobiles and Dodge job rated
trucks, the firm has expanded its
operations until personnel has in-
creased to 14 men from the three
since first opening. A larger parts
department handles a complete
line of Dodge and Plymouth parts
ii. line with their increased busi-
ness requirements, and further ad-
ditional improvements are plan-
ned, said Mr. Montgomery.
“Owners should be advised to
tike good care of their present
ears, as it is not only a source of
greater comfort and enjoyment
when in proper condition for driv-
ing, but a well cared-for car in
good shape always has a better
tradein and re-sale value than one
which is neglected," commented
Mr. Montgomery.
Regensburger Store
Opened Here Back
In Year of 1876
It was only some three years
after Denison sold its first lot at
an auction sale to establish the
town, that two young men known
as E. and H. Regensburger open-
ed a gents’ clothing store and
christened it the U. S. Clothing
store. They were located at 200
Main street. The business remain-
ed in that location for near 45
years, later moving to the pres-
ent location at 323 Main.
H. Regensburger died in St.
I.ouis in 1938, to which place he
moved some years back. His broth-
er, E. Regensburger, passed away
in 1945. W. L. Regensburger, a
son of E. Regensburger, has been
associated with the store since be
was a young man and at his fa-
ther’s death took over the busi-
ness which is in better condition
than ever, the store being a house-
hold word for miles around among
wearers of good clothing.
Another son of E. Regensburg-
er is Morris, who is connected
with the Citizens National Rank,
an institution which his father
helped to establish. The Regens-
burger interests are identified
with various institutions here,
having several business buildings
and holding stock in Hotel Deni-
son.
for their patrons' pleasure. "We
are open 24 hours every day and
have thrown away our front door
key,” state the owners.
Recently another cafe was tak-
en over by the owners of the Sara-
toga, their last venture being a
cafe known as the Star Eat Shop
al North Hurnett and Woodard
street. After reconditioning the
new place it was thrown open last
week to the public, After a name
contest conducted hy Messrs. John-
son and Weideman, the name Lit-
tle Saratoga was chosen.
