The Old Reliable
The committee is still receiving BUSINESS ITEMS
donations for the assembly hall on
the school grounds. Some encour-
agement is given; some objections
are made. No one claims the extra
room is not needed, even absolutely
necessary, but some object to erect-
ing a frame building. To such we
would cite the city schools. Nearly
every school in Dallas has from one
to several frame or temporary build-
ings for emergency use. Our need
is NOW. A frame building to ans-
wer all purposes can be erected and
equipped in a month, or in time to
meet the demand of pupils who
wiU enter school with the compul-
sory term. A brick building could
not be erected now, even if we had
the money to pay all costs; if con-
ditions were normal, a brick build-
ing could not be erected in time to
meet the demands. The frame build-
ing wiU not be a loss, as some state
for the demand for additional room
wiH continue from year to year for
some time before the need for ward
schools can be met. If we cannot
do the big thing we have in mind,
et us do the best we can and hurry
up about it, that one set of children ®ay mule* 12 years old. weight
