The Texarkana Bears and the
Austin Pioneers wind up a crucial
two-game series in Austin tonight,
with the Bears clinging to first
place by a one-game margin over
the Pioneers.
Texarkana took over undisput-
ed possession of first place yester-
day by edging Austin, 5-t. Austin
now trails the Bears by one game.
Fourth-place Waco walloped
third-place Wichita Falls, 14-fl.
Fifth-place Sherman-Denison
downed last-place Temple, 5-2.
and Greenville defeated Gaines-
ville, t-3. The heat got the best of
both starting pitchers, a base run-
ner an done umpire in the Green-
viUe-GainesvUle game.
