and his colleaguea left Rusaia to
attend the conference here pre-
liminary plans for launching a
satellite had been completed but
“discussion was still going on ai
to which of two variants would be
launched—two variants were pre-
pared.”
“Judging from the available In-
formation, the simplest of the two
variants was chosen.” he said.
“All it contains is the (radio)
transmitter. It is designed to as.
tablish the method of launching
and getting into an orbit ... Of
course this satellite is not going
to give all the answers, but it
makes the first forward step and
will assure that the next one will
be launched on the correct orbit."
He said he had been unable to
