The costume ia made ot Pastel blue vailing in combination with foulard of a
creamy yellow hue. The skirt represents the new simulated overdress design. Th-
upper part has a centre seam both back and front but may be made If desired, with
the back seam upon a fold of the goods and the opening In front. The back open-
ing will usually be found preferable. Trimming of any preferred variety may gar-
nish the front seam. In the present Instance soutache braid ornaments are the
medium selected. The upper skirt ends where the ordinary tunic would end and
heie a circular ruflls is applied under the edge ni the upper skirt. This skirt ma
be made over a model skirt or may be worn with drop skirt. The bodice model
ed upon lining pattern of a model waist fits perfectly to the form. The lower part
re covered with the foulard, and forms a culrasae a Dove which are four folds ol the

lined with soutache. The featening of the bodice M at the left shoulder and left

“Thursday while W. S. Aston
was having bis brother Jim's remains
exhumed for re-interment in tbe
Odd Fellows’ cemetery it was dis-
covered that tbe metallic coffin was
very heavy, necessitating about
doxen strong men to bring it to the
top. It took six strong men to get
the remains in a wagon, and upon
unscrewing tbe lid it was discove-ed
that tbe remain* were petrified
beyond doubt. Mr. Aston says he
could easily recognise tbe face of bis
dead brother.

missioner, and we are told that even
this suprising display by no means
exhausts tbe li«t; that further and
closer investigation would disclose
even greater results than have yet
been reached.
In half a doaen of these little cans
are to be found wbat seems to be
coffee beans. Sometimes we think
that we are able to recognise Hue
coffee when we see it in the bean,
and sagely a*k to see samples ol the
berry before it is ground for our use.
Foolish mortal*! Here art bits of

baked and stained to resemble tbe
true article. Tbe coffee we buy
might be one half or three-quarters
made up of these dough-beans and

samples have not been analysed.

very perfect in color and in con-
sistency. Ground pumpkin mixed
witb a few tomatoes and all colored
with aniline, which ia not fit to
take into tbe human stomach—this is
our canned tomato catsup.
Here, too, is a can containing
