Mrs. Hauk Honors Son
On Birthday Sunday
Mrs. Joe Hauk of Clarkson honor-
ed her son, Butch on his seventh
birthday with a party Sunday after-
noon, April 22.
Guests wera friends of Rutch and
were as follows; James Frank and
Jon Hufthen, Sharon Garrett, Lloyd
and Floris Kornig, Nancy Matyastik,
Lillie Skala, Dorine Chollett, Inez
Dodd, David Mitchell, Johnny Hay
McCollum, Annette and Glynn Lacky,
Oscar Skala, Johnny Lanicek, Dosk-
ocil Jr., Ernest Jr., Patricia Wimber-
ly, Henry and David Skupin, Floyd
and James Withers, Kaynotte Kosel,
James Fontaine, Robert Wayne Todd
and Mike Skupin.
A series of games were enjoyed
after which Mrs. Hauk assisted by
several ladies served cake, ice cream
and punch. The cake was a beautiful
decorated birthday cake.
Others present were the honoree’s
grandmother, Mrs. W. T. Garrett and
two aunts, Mrs. Bob Todd and Mrs.
Pete Garrett of Rryan, Mrs. Victor
Hughen of Jones Prairie, Mrs. Sallie
Garner of Cameron, Mrs. Lee Mc-
Collum of Burlington, Mrs. Frank
Kruse and Mrs. Raymond Kosel of
Wilson, Mrs. R. K. Fontaine of Jon-
es Prairie, Mrs. Ed London of Bry-
an, Mrs. Marion Mitchell, Mrs. Joe
Lackey, Mrs. John Wimberly, Mrs.
Robert Wimberly, Mrs. Emil Skupin,
Mrs. George Dodd, Mrs. Charlie Sku-
pin and Mrs. J. A. Blasienz.
Everyone enjoyed the day and
Butch expressed his thanks to each
one for the many nice gifts that he
received.

rejoice in progress made by our neighbors
and we are especially happy to have had a
part in the erection of Swift’s Clinic. May
his profession continue to grow, is our

Dr. Clifford Swift on the completion of his
new and modern Clinic. We are proud to
be among those who note progress in our
city and feel that Dr. Swift has made an im-

“42” Liesure Club
The 42 Leisure club met with Mrs.
Pete Bcrgum at the home of her sis-
ter, Miss Ida Vogelsang last Thurs-
day.
Beautiful spring flowers were pla-
ced about the party rooms.
Mrs. August Kunz won high score,
Mrs. John Matyastik, second high and
the 84 prize fell to Mrs. Bill Bal-
horn.
The hostess served sandwiches,
torte cakes, topped with whipped
cream and Cokes. Plate fuvors were
lovely bouquets of Pansies
Young People Enjoy
Party At Matyastik
Home At Clarkson
Rosa Lee Matyastik wus hostess to
a group of young people Tuesday
night, when she entertained with a
weiner and marshmallow roast.
The party was held at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Matyastik at Clarkson.
After a series of gumes, weiners
and Marshmallows were toasted and
enjoyed by the group which included
guests from Briary, Clarkson, Jones
Prairie, Burlington and Cameron.
Chaperones for the occasion were
Mrs. Marie llenfeldt and Mrs. Maty-
astik.
The Angells Celebrate
Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Angell of Ca-
meron celebrated their 51 wedding
anniversary Sunday, April 15 at the
home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. B.
F. Angell at Brazoria.
A chicken supper was given in their
honor Saturday night with the fil-
lowing guests present, the host and
hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Angell, Mr.
and Mrs. George Rankin and Monte
Angell of Cameron.
Sunday the group enjoyed an out-
ing at Minard Bay. A big dinner was
served to Mr. and Mrs. Angell, Mr.
and Mrs. B. F. Angell, Mr. and Mrs.
George Rankin, Monte Angell, Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Schlemmer of Free-
port and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Angell
of Houston. They enjoyed boat riding
during the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Angell have returned
home and report a most enjoyable
time.
Mr. and Mrs. Angell were married
at the Walkers Creek Baptist church
in 1900 and had made their home in
that Community until a few- years
ago when they moved to Cameron and
are living out in North Hillcrest. Six
children were born to this couple and
all are living with the exception of
one.
Theta Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma
Phi Sorority met in regular session
Tuesday night, April 10 at the home
of Mrs. Edith Starnes, (it wus dis-
closed by Mrs. Dorcas Smith, public-
ity chairman,
Mrs. Smith had charge of the pro-
gram and gave a talk on “Sculp-
ture.”
The Sorority is a non-academic,
cultural and service organization.lt
follows an eight year progfam which
includes, 2 pin awards after prescrib-
ed work has been completed; one pin
being awarded after pledge training
and another after a four year pro-
gram cycle has been completed.
The Cameron chapter will complete
its third program book in May and
take up the fourth program outlined
beginning in September. The organi-
zation is looking forward to complet-
ing the program so they will be eligi-
ble to become an Exemplar Chapter
and start the second half of the eight
year program.
Officers elected for the coming
year are as follows; Mrs. Edith Star-
nes, president; Mrs. Elma Anderson,
vice-president; Mrs. Deanne Walker,
secretary; Mrs. Esther Manning,
treasurer.
Working committees and chairmen
appointed for the year were: social,
Mrs. Lois Raymond; program, Mrs.
Hallic White; Ways and Means, Mrs.
Dorothy Johns; membership, Mrs.
Ruth Crittenden, Service, Mrs. Maxine
Corley; Parliamentarian, Mrs. Em-
malou Curtis and publicity, Mrs. Dor-
cas Smith.
Battetown Bible Circle
Holds Meeting
At Church
The Bible Circle of the Battetown
Baptist church met Wednesday after-
noon, April 18 at the church.
Six members were present as fol-
lows; Mrs. Guy Rivers, President;
Miss Wilma Angell, Secretary, Mrs.
O. L. Hairgrove, Mrs. Chester Hayes,
Mrs. Eldredge Angell and Mrs. Grady
Gill.
Their subject for the afternoon w-as
the 36 chapter of Psalms.
The next meeting is ncbeduled for
Monday, April 23 at the home of
Miss Wilma Angell. Mrs. Grady Gill
in charge of the program. Refresh-
ments will be served.
Homemaking Class
Meets At Home
Of Mrs. Kidd
Mrs. O. L. Kidd was hostess to the
Homemaking Class of the First Bap-
tist Church at her home 610 East 15
street Thursday afternoon, April 12.
Mrs. Ford, president presided at
the business meeting. Mrs. Annie
Reeso gave a devotional and Mrs.
Wm. Fanning read a prayer.
Following the business meeting a
Social hour was enjoyed. During
which time the members finished a
quilt which they will give to the
Buckner Orphan home.

Enjoys Social
The Fellowship Sunday School claas
at the First Presbyterian Church en-
joyed a social in the basement of the
church Friday night, April 13.
A number of spirited games were
played directed by Rev. John Solo-
mon and several of the oficers of the
class. Everyone enjoyed the two hour
get-together and fellowship during
the evening.
After the conclusion of the games,
refreshments were served buffet
style, consisting of sandwiches, pick-
les, olives, potato chips.
Bible Circle Holds
Meeting At Church
The Battetown Bible circle met at
the home of Miss Wilma Angell Mon-
day afternoon, April 23.
Eleven members and two guests,
Mrs. W. O. Angell of Cameron and
Mrs. Will Rivers of Paris, Texas
were present for the occasion.
The subjects for the afternoon was
the 3rd chapter of 1st Timothy.
Miss Angell served a sandwich
plate consisting of sandwiches, pota-
to chips, pickles, cookies and ice tea.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Guy Rivers April 30.
Refreshments will be served.

Mrs. E. H. Walston
Mrs. Hugh Ridout was given a big
birthday dinner Sunday, April 22 at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Tindall at 821 N. Milam.
The dinner was also in honor of
Mrs. E. H. Walston of Marlow whose
birthday is also April 21.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tindall,
Mr. and Mrs. Ridout, Hugh Glenn and
Dorothy Jane Ridout, Leland Tindall,
Johnnie Tindall of Austin, Mrs. Wal-
ston, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tindall, Mrs.
A. B. McFarland and Mr. and Mrs.
John Hobson
A big dinner was served at the
noon hour. The birthday cake was a
decorated orange chiffon.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Houston and
children of Marlow visited in Camer-
on Monday afternoon.
