Charles Franklin, accused of theft,
was said to have stolen a pair of

J. K. Alexander was brought from

According to Juan L. Bevueltoa, a
cattle buyer of Mexico City, now mak
ing heavy shipments to Cuba from
Monterey and Nuevo lutredo. thous-
ands of head of lean cattle, unfit for
finarket. are being shipped out of Mex-
ico, In bond, for Cuba, to restock the
ranges of the new republic.
Mr. Revueltes now has a train load
at lean cattle at Monterey ready for
shipment to Cuba via Tampico. His
agents have just shipped four train
loads from Nuevo Laredo, and be has
picked up 2,000 head in the state of
Chihuahua.
Mr. Revueltos says that the Cuban
land owners and many Americans who
have purchased land there are turning
their attention to stock raising, and
predicts that within a few years
Culia will be much more of a cattle
country than at uny previous time In
its history. He aaye the failure of the
United States to grant concessions on
sugar has turned attention to stock
raising as against cane growing.
“Lean cattle are In demand.” said
Mr. Beveultos. "because the duty on
them la leas. With a view of encour-
aging stock raising the new govern-
ment recently made a reduction In Im-
port duties on cattle and horses, based
on weight. The cattlemen are there-
by able to accomplish a saving in buy-
ing lean eattle. and they serve the
