Alpine, Texas, Aug. 31.—Alpine
again has the assurance of a brass
band. Up till about a year ago it
could boast of the best band of Its
size In the west. On account of a
great many of the old members go-
ing away to school, moving away from
the town, etc., it was disbanded.
The Levington hall and the Hend-
erson hotel have again changed hands
I this week. R. S. Carnes and other
Beaumont parties purchased the
Henderson hotel while Mrs. Stewart,
who until recently of Amarillo, Tex-
as, purchased the Levington hall.
Judge W. H. Ragin. accompanied
by his grandson, Ragin McKinney, left
Mondky night for Sheridan. Texas, to
visit his children at that place for a
few days.
Pas Edwards and wife expect to
leave in a few days for Detroit, to at-
tend the automobile dealers' conven-
tion.
Mrs. T. M. Newton and family have
returned from the ranch, where they
