Institutions may crumble and gov

Turn* Hare*.
One spring, after a late fall of snow
an old hare brought her leverets
from the hill and hid them in a straw
stack near a farm, and remained con
stantly near them all day, coming to
them regularly as soon as the twi
light made it safe. Hares are bold as
well as affectionate, and have been
known to drive off a hawk which
was carrying away a young one
springing up and striking the bird as
it flew low above the ground; and
their attachment to locality ia w>
great that even if kept at large they
would probably not leave their own
er’s grounds.—London Spectator.

In an alleyway just off the crowd-
ed street the Ltotener yesterday saw
a traveling sign advertisement man
reposing. He was comfortably
wedged down in between two dry
goods boxes, and hto large feet rested
upon another box and he was fast
asleep. Above hto head and firmly
attached to hto shoulders was the fa
miliar sign which he had borne above
the crowd. It floated softly up and
down as he snored; and upon it were
these eminently fitting words, "Give
Your Feet a Rest." It was the ad-
vertisement of a corn doctor and the
man who carried it around was tak-
ing the doctor's own medicine. -Bos-
