Meeting Held
The Gholson 4-H Club met
in regular session Tuesday, Nov, I
21 with a hay ride and wiener
roast.
Mr. Russell furnished and I
drove the tractor; Mr. Buzbee
furnished the trailer and hay
for 24 4-H members, 28 guests
and eight adults present.
Jenell Holder, Roger Hodde,
and Dixie Ballew served on the
refreshment committee.

Belle semifinalist, and a mem-
ber of Omi Cron Nu honorary
home economics sorority. She is
| presently employed at Foley's
Department Store in Houston.
Mr. Irwin is presently attend-
ing the University of Texas
where he will graduate in June
with a degree in Chemistry. He
is a member of Delta Tau Delta
fraternity and Phi Eta Sigma,
Phi Lambda Upsilon, Phi Kappa
Phi, and Alpha Epiion Delta
honorary fraternities.
Miss Lednicky
Honored With
Personal Shower
Miss Pat Lednicky, bride-elect
of David Patton, was honored
with a personal shower, Satur-
day, Nov. 25, at the home of Mrs.
Henry Matula. Special guest was
Mrs. Jerome Lednicky, Sr.,
bride's mother.
The refreshment table featur-
ed a tall arrangement of white
and hot pink flowers, greenery,
and white candles in crystal
holders trimmed with net. A va-
nilla lace cloth covered the
table, and appointments were of
silver and crystal. The round
table which held gifts was cen-
tered with a small arrangement
of hot pink carnations.
Refreshments were chicken
salad sandwiches on rye bread,
potato chips, pickles, olives, as-
sorted kolaches, pink angel cake,
chocolate mints, tea, and cof-
fee.
Hostesses were Miss Evelyn
Matula and Mrs. Roger Kolar.

Twenty hostesses accorded
Miss Elizabeth Hlavaty, bride-
elect of James R. Patterson,
with a bridal shower on Sunday,
Nov. 19, 1967, in the home of
Mrs. Tom Fajkus in Abbott. In
the receiving line with the
bride-elect were her mother,
Mrs. Ernest J. Hlavaty of Ab-
bott, Mrs. James W. Patterson
and Priscilla of Seminole, Texas.
The seventy guests were regis-
tered by Mrs. Tony Pustejovsky,
sister of the bride-elect.
Crystal appointments accent-
ed the refreshment table which
was centered with a flower ar-
rangement of green and white,
the bride’s chosen colors. The
arrangement was a gift to Miss
Hlavaty from her aunt, Mrs.
Louis R. Janek. Miss Shirley
Morgan, Mrs. Lynn Gray, and
Miss Donna Sue Morgan served
the refreshments of punch,
mints, nuts, kolaches and cake.
Coffee was poured from a silver
service.
The couple will be married on
Saturday, Dec. 2, 1967, in the
Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church in Abbott.

MAKES PLANS FOR
CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Cadette Troop 73 met at Dun-
bar School on November 28.
Plans were made to make
cookies for boxes to be packed
for Christmas gifts to be given
away December 12.
Those present were Cindy Ge-
jrik, Shanna McCarthy, Cindy
Mellgren, Gayle Tucker, Veroni-
ca Eddins, Rita Nemec, Lisa
Armstrong, Stephanie Janek,
Oleta Hopkins and Leaders Bet-
tye Tucker and Mary Mellgren.

WFSTITFS VISIT
BAHAMA ISLANDS
Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Wernet,
Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hab-
erl left Love Field at 8 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 21 for Nassau in
the Bahama Islands.
They spent three days in the
beautiful city at the Balmoral
Club. During their stay, they
visited many of the amazing at-
tractions of the island, includ-
ing the British-type governor’s
palace. They left Nassau late
Friday and returned home early
Saturday morning.
BROWNIE TROOP 173
ELECTS OFFICERS
Brownie Troop 173 met Tuos-
j day afternoon for their regular
meeting.
Officers were elected for De-
cember and January. They are
Becky Barton, president; Kaye
Tucker, vice-president; Cindy
Husak, secretary and reporter;
Cindy Owens, treasurer and
Beverly Sawyer, song leader.
After their business meeting
the girls began working on
Christmas gifts.
Refreshments of hot cocoa
and cookies were served.

Miss Judy Mears
Honored With
Bridal Courtesy
Miss Judy Mears, bride-elect
of James T. Wellborn, Jr. was
honored with a miscellaneous
shower Nov. 24 at the Methodist
Church Fellowship hall in
Gholson.
Hosting the occasion were
Mrs. Paul Sterling, Mrs. Frank
Mears, Mrs. K. L. Reddell, Mrs.
Bobby Wellborn, Mrs. T. O.
Landingham and Mrs. E. E. Red-
dell. The bride-elect’s chosen
colors of red and white were
carried out in the decor. The
serving table was laid with
white linen cloth, with center
arrangement consisting of a
white branch with miniature
packages of red and white,
hanging from the branches, ac-
cented with red bows and a red
bird. A red velvet bow with the
bride-elect’s and groom-elect’s
name in white glitter with a
miniature bride and groom at
the base of the bow. Cake and
punch carried the red and white
colors. Tire bride wore a corsage
of white glameilias, accented
with a red ribbon, presented to
her by the hostess. Serving
were Miss Carolyn Mears and
Miss Linda Callaway. Twenty-
five guests were registered in
the bride’s book, presided at by
Miss Linda Mears.
Miss Mears is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Mears of Ghol-
son, and is a graduate of West
High School. Mr. Wellborn is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T.
Wellborn of Iredell and is a
graduate of Iredell High School,
attended Tarleton State College
in Stephenville and is now with
the Texas State Highway Patrol
in Conroe. The couple will be
married Dec. 2. at 8 o’clock at
the Methodist Church in Ghol-
son.
GUARDIAN ANGEL
MEETING HELD
Troop Guardian Angel held
their meeting on Nov. 21, at the
home of Vickie Brennen.
The girls collected sweaters
which will be given to the
needy.
Refreshments of drinks,
sandwiches and cookies were
served to the following: Vickie
Brennan, Denise and Louise
Haberl, Karen Hoelscher, Jan-
ice Matus, Paula Zahirniak and
counselors, Mrs. L. V. Brennan,
Mrs. Joe Jezek, and Mrs. Haberl.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Denise Haberl.
PAYNES ATTEND
FAMILY GATHERING
IN MERIDIAN SUN.
Mr. and Mrs. A1 Payne, Jr.,
and sons spent Sunday in Meri-
dian with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Burney Warren and other
relatives, at a family get-to-
gether and a belated Thanks-
giving dinner.
There were 29 members of the
family who attended worship
service at the Methodist Church
in Meridian Sunday morning.
Dinner was served at the home
of Mrs. Payne’s sister and
brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs.
W. C. Baiid.
The man of the hour is the
chap who has made his minutes

Bride of Alvin Sembera, Sat,
Miss Dorothy Gajdosik be-
came the bride of Alvin Sem-
bera on Saturday. Nov. 25 at
1 p.m. in the Catholic Church
of Assumption in West. Rev.
Leddy performed the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Rudolf Gajdosik and
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sembera.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a four tier
formal gown of Alencon lace
and net with circular train fea-
turing long tapered sleeves with
a portrait neckline. A Swedish
crown of pearls and crystals
held her silk illusion veil. She
carried a bouquet of feathered
carnations centered with an
orchid.
Maid of honor was the bride’s
cousin, Miss Doris Hlavaty. She
wore a floor length green satin
gown caged in chantilly lace
with elbow length bell-shaped
sleeves. She wore a matching
headpiece and carried a bouquet
of dark pink carnations.
Best man was Larry Mynar of
Cottonwood.
Raymond Steinocher of Waco
and Rudolf Kolar of West were
ushers.
Parents of the couple were
hosts for a reception, supper
and dance held at the SPJST
Hall in Cottonwood.
After a short wedding trip the
couple will live in Cottonwood.

TOURS CAPE KENNEDY
Emil J. Hutyra recently toured
Cape Kennedy leaving Connally
AFB Nov. 14 and returning Nov.
16.
Approximately 33 Air Force
Association personnel and pri-
vate individuals made the trip,
landing at Patrick AFB Florida.
The day after their arrival, the
entire group took a guided tour
of the Cape and inspected in-
stallations at Cape Kennedy and
NASA.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Sch-
roeder of Tours and Mr. and
Mrs. Anton P. Gerik and Dennis
attended the wedding of their
nephew and cousin, Donald Pn-
lensky of Port Lavaca and Mary
Lynn Haiduk of San Antonio,
Saturday, Nov. 25 in St. Law-
rence Catholic Church in San
Antonio.
Mr. Polensky’s mother is the
former Lillie Fojtik who lived
in Leroy during her childhood.

Party for leadership in Parts
and Service Sales on Saturday,
Nov. 18, 1967. The party was
held at the Adolphus Hotel in

were deer hunting last weekend
and Frank was the lucky one.
He bagged an 8-point buck with
a 17-inch spread. The buck
dressed out at 120 lbs. Malcolm
bagged a tom turkey with a lO'/i
inch beard.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Altus
of Arlington are the proud par-
ents of a baby boy born at 8:44
p.m., Nov. 23 at Arlington Me-
morial Hospital. The young lad
weighed 8 lbs. and has been
named Darrell Glenn. He was
welcomed home by a brother,
Stephen .James, 2 years old, and
a sister, Jenifer Rene, 1 year
cld. The mother is the former
Martha Ann Grimm. Grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Her-
man Grimm of Tours and Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert H. Altus of
Leroy. Great-grandparents are
Mrs. Charles Wrbas of West and
Mrs. Will Altus of Leroy.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Wayne
Gibson of Aquilla are the proud
parents of an 8 lb., 15 uy„ baby
boy, born at 12:19 p.m. Monday,
Nove. 27 at Hillcrest Hospital
in Waco. He has one sister 13
years old and a 5-year-old
brother.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe McCartney
are the proud parents of a baby
boy born Friday, Nov. 24, at
Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. The
little lad weighed 7 pounds, 1
ounce, and was named Gary
Dean. He was welcomed home
by a brother, Larry Don. Moth-
er is the former Janet Terry.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Terry of West and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank McCartney of
Gholson.
