SWEETHEART
Sarah Scott was elected bas-
ketball sweetheart by the Tro-
jan team Thursday. She will
participate in the Connally
tournament sweetheart contest.
Jeanette Wilde and Bonnie

“CHRISTMAS AROUND
THE WORLD" THEME
OF FHA PARTY
“Christmas Around the World”
is the theme this year for the
Future Homemakers’ Christmas
party. It is scheduled for 8:00
p.m. on December 16 in the
gymnasium.
Entertainment for the eve-
jning will include a number of
skits by FHA units giving the
Christmas customs of various
countries. The FHA beau will be
presented to the group. Dancing
will follow the presentations.
Sweets of several countries
will be served.
FHA unit mothers and chapter
mothers will be honored guests.
Favorites Elected
The Favorites election was
held at West High School on
Friday morning. Each class had
nominated a Most Popular Boy
and Girl and the Most Beauti-
ful Girl and the Most Handsome
Boy.
Those elected from the en-
tire school are, Most Popular
Girl: Leona Gerik; Most Popular
Boy: Robert Ernst; Most Beau-
tiful Girl: Mary Ann Dujka; and
Most Handsome Boy: Larry
Blaschke.

Mrs. Nadine Avants, former
Abbott resident, shot a 5-point
buck Saturday evening while
hunting on the Klemstein Ranch
at Comfort, Texas. This was the
fifth time Mrs. Avants had ever
held a gun in her hand
Mr. Fred Pribyla is recuperat-
ing at his home in Mt. Calm aft-
er returning home from Provi-
dence Hospital where he had
been treated for a broken hip.
His daughter, Mrs. V. J. Pratka
of West, has been helping care
for him.
Mrs. Joe Barton spent a few
days last week with her daugh-
ter, Mrs. B. F. Tlustos of Oak
Lake, who is ill.

Hattie Kocian visited Monday
with Mr. Will Kocian who is un-
dergoing medical treatment in
the V.A. Hospital in Marlin.

Jr., was admitted to the Crip-
pled Children’s Hospital in Wa-
co recently, where she will un-
dergo surgery this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stanislav
of Waco are the proud parents of
a baby boy weighing 7 lbs., 9 ozs.
He was born in Providence Hos-
pital. The young man has a
three-year-old sister. Grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Parma of Waco and Mrs. Mar-
tha Stanislav of West.
Mr. and Mrs. Edmond E. Marak
of Dallas are the proud parents
of a 7 lb. boy, Edmond Edward
Jr., born at 3 a.m. December 6.
Grandparents are Mrs. E. M.
Marak of West and Mr. and Mrs.
Anton Hlavenka of Tours. Moth-
er is the former Helen Hlavenka.

of Dallas are the proud parents
of a baby girl born Dec. 2 in a
Dallas hospital. The little miss
weighed 7 lbs., 4 ozs. Grandpar-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Fri-
del and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wachs-
mann of Bellmead and Mr.
Scruggs of Waco. Mother is the
former Mildred Fridel.

Lt. and Mrs. David E. Jones of
Laon, France, are the proud par-
ents of a baby girl born on Fri-
day, Dec. 1 at 7:30 a.m. The lit-
tle miss was named Judy JoAnn.
She weighed 6 lbs., 13 ozs.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Matus of Waco and Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Jones of Oxford, Mis-
sissippi. Great grandmother is
Mrs. Tom Motis of West. Mother
is the former Rita Jane Matus
