FROM THE TEXT BOOK...
THE BIBLE.
Key Thought: A troubled Psalm-
ist asks? “But where shall
wisdom be found, and where is
the place of understanding?”
Man does not know the way to
it.
Wisdom is not in the sea. It
can not be gotten for gold. Silver
cannot be weighed as the price.
Poor forlorn man seek thy
creator, thy God as Solomon,
they shall not be forsaken. God
has called out and chose men
down through the annals of time
and imbued with wisdom, (shall
we read about the son of King
David). Solomon went to Gebion,
the great HIGH PLACE to make
sacrifice unto God. Solomon

hungered for God’s approval of
his service. His offering was a
thousand burnt offerings upon
the altar. While there, God came
to Solomon by night, in a dream
and asked “What shall I give
thee, Solomon? Ask anything in
my name.” “0 my Lord,
(Solomon was surely stricken
with awe), I am but a little child,
knowing not how to go out or
come in, here among great
people who cannot be counted
for multitude, give therefore
thy servant an understanding
heart to judge thy people, that I
may judge righteously, knowing
the good from the bad.”
God’s answer came like the
balm of Gilead - “Because thou
hast asked this thing, nothing
for thyself, neither long life,
riches, nor the punishment or
life of thine enemies, I have
given thee a wise understanding
heart, also that which thou hast
not asked, great riches and
honor, unequaled to any king
before thee, the present or ever
shall be, and if thy follow in my
way, keep my statutes and my
commandments as thy father did
walk, King David, then I will
lengthen thy days (I Kings
3:13-14). Solomon returned to
Jerusalem with a feast for the
people offering up his burnt
offerings in sacrifice. Solomon
soon found himself a test of
judging people in heart render-
, ing decisions. Then, there came
before the king (Solomon) two
women, harlots, one of the
women spoke, “0 my Lord, this
woman and I lived together in a
I house, no other person is near.
We both gave birth to a
new-born baby the same day.
Now we each had our own bed
and baby with us. Now she
states, this other woman awoke
this morning and her baby was
dead. She came screaming to me
that my baby was her baby and
the dead baby is mine. Not so,
Lord, the live baby is mine.
Solomon studies the two women
(perhaps asking many ques-
tions). Solomon realized the
facts. Now the accusing woman
during the night had rolled over
on her baby and smothered it
and when awake realized what
she had done. Thus she stole out
of bed and switched the babies,
placing the dead baby at the
sleeping mothers breast. When
the woman awoke to nurse her
baby, the infant at her bosom
was dead, but upon holding up
the baby she realized it wasn’t
her baby. Solomon listened
intently to their cries of woe,
then he said, “bring me a
sword”. And they brought a
sword to the King. Handing it to
a servant, the King said,
“Divide the living child in two
parts and give half to one and a
half to the other.” TTien spake
the woman whose living child
was unto the King, for this
woman yearned for her son and
she cried, “0 mv Lord, give her
the living child and in no wise
slay him”. But the other woman
said, “Let it be neither mine nor
thine, but divide it”.
Then the King answered and
said. “Give her the living child
and in no wise slay it, she is the
mother thereof’. All of Israel
heard of his judgement and
rejoiced. Solomon understood
the power and quality of love.
