“Police blotter'* is a summary of the previous week’s activity by Ihe Port
Aransas Police Dept. For practical reasons of time and space, the “blotter”
does not include every call made to police officers, nor does it include
routine security checks, minor traffic stops or accidents. Incidents of major
impact will be reported separately.
Monday, March 17
• Two officers checked at a convenience store on Beach and Alister
streets at 3:41 p.m. and arrested three males for possession of drug
paraphernalia.
• An officer responded at 6:37 p.m. to a convenience store at Cotter Street
and Cut-off Road in reference to a drunken person, who was arrested for
public intoxication.
• An officer made a traffic stop at Pleasant Valley and State Highway 361
at 9:22 p.m. and arrested one person for driving while intoxicated
Tuesday, March 18
• An officer responded at 12:39 p.m. to a fast food restaurant on Cotter
Street in reference to a circus truck hitting a sign. The incident was resolved.
• All units responded at 5:36 p.m. to Roberts Point Park in reference to
a disturbance at the circus No police action was necessary
• Officers responded at 2:12 a.m. to a motel on Sandcastle Drive in
reference to a possible Fight in progress They assisted the Constable’s
Precinct 4 in making the arrest of three subjects. One was arrested on two
l>epartment of Public Safety warrants out of Victoria; another on minor in
possession charges, and the third, a male juvenile, for not having a driver’s
license
Wcdmaday, March 19
• Two officers and Dix, the police dog, responded at 12:35 p.m to a
convenience store on Alister Street and Avenue G in reference to a possible
drunken driver Two people were arrested for drug paraphernalia.
• All units responded at 6:40 p.m. to a 9-1-1 hang up in reference to
suspicious activity One person was arrested for public intoxication
• Three officers responded at 7:22 p m. to the parking lot at the grocery
store in ref erence to a possible drunken subject One person was arrested for
public intoxication.
• Two officers and an officer from Texas Alcoholic Beverage Control
responded to the county park at 8:15 p m. in reference to a request from a
county ranger for help Two people were arrested, one for public mtoxica
tion and the other for public intoxication and possession of a prohibited
weapon
• An officer responded at 8:23 p.m. to a parking lot a( the grocery store
m reference to a hit and run incident The vehicle was located and escorted
back to the parking No additional action was necessary
• At I 2:i)3 am, an officer responded to condominiums on Access Road

Thursday, March 20
• I MS responded to the ( oast Guard Station Port Aransas at 12 37 p m
to be transferred by boat in reference to a possible heart attack victim The
patient was taken to an Aransas Pass hospital
• Two officers responded at 8:03 p.m. to the ferry landing in reference to
a possible drunk driver Three people were arrested on charges of public
intoxication.
• An officer made a traffic stop at 1 2:03 a m on the beach and arrested
one subject for willful and wanton disregard
Friday, March 21
• At 9:18 a.m., an employee at a convenience store at State Highway 361
and Access Road IA reported four males were flipping breaker switches on
and off at the side of the building and appearing to be casing the store out
Subjects were taken into the police department
• One person was arrested for public intoxication at Beach Street and on
the beach at 3:12 p.m
• A TABC unit checked out at Pole 5 on the beach at 9:45 p m and
arrested one person for MIP and seven warrants from Rockport
• Several arrests for public intoxication were made in the area during the
rest of the shift.
• At I I 55 pm, a TABC officer checked a large crowd on the beach at
Pole 4 He arrested one person for MIP. second offense City police arrested
three others on charges of drug paraphernalia possession, disorderly
conduct language, MIP and presenting false identification to a police
officer.
Saturday, March 22
• Numerous arrests for driving offenses, drinking in public and minors in
possession were made during the day
• An officer responded at 2:28 p m to Marker 4 on the beach in reference
to a victim who was hit w ith a beer bottle A subject was detained and placed
in jaiI
• All units responded at 2 55 p m to the area of Access Road 1 A on the
beach in reference to a theft Four male subjects were arrested and a stolen
vehicle was recovered
• TABC checked out at Pole 5 at 7 I 3 p m in reference to a large crowd
Two females were arrested for MIP
• A city officer checked on a large crowd on the beach at 9:58 p.m and
arrested on person on MIP and false identification Another Spring Breaker
was arrested at I I 40 p.m. for disorderly conduct language and MIP
• During the day’s final shift, five public intoxication arrests were made
on the beach At 2:57 am , a city policeman arrested a male juvenile for both
public intoxication and possession of a prohibited weapon
Sunday, March 23
• When a subject was detained on the beach at I 06 p m for acceleration
of speed, he was found to be wanted in Bexar County
• EMS responded at 3:52 p rn to a convenience store at Avenue (i and
Alister Street in reference to a female who was not breathing She was
transported to a hospital in Aransas Pass.
• An officer checked a subject at 4:23 p.m who had passed out on the
beach The subject was transported to the police department, checked by
I MS and booked into jail
• An officer responded to Pole I at 5:28 p.m in reference to a hit and run
Two people were arrested for willful and wanton behavior
• At 7:22 pm. an officer responded to Port Street in reference to a male
chasing a female One arrest on Nueces County Sheriff s Office warrants
was made
• An officer responded at I 42 a m to White and Station streets in
reference to a subject that had passed out The person was arrested for
public intoxication

Coastal commendation
Texas General Land Commissioner Garry Mauro left, presented
Port Aransas Mayor Jim Sherrill with the first Coastal Community
Award The award was presented Monday, March 24, during a
luncheon at the Texas Coastal Issues Conference in Corpus Christi
The award recognizes Port Aransas' outstanding efforts on coastal
resource issues The GLO commended the city for its pro active
role in protecting dunes, and the creation of the wetlands and the
Port Aransas Birding Center Mauro told Sherrill that the city's beach
and dune management program, natural wastewater treatment
system and birding trails "are just the kind of efforts we want to
spotlight" Sherrill credited many individuals both in and out of city
government for earning the award

reference to a disturbance.t.
• A deputy reported at 3 50 am, he was out with a suspicious subject at
a condominium on the highway
• A deputy responded at 4 05 a.m. to a tight call on Alister Street Peace
was restored
• A deputy responded at I0 a.m. to a motel on Alis’et Street in reference
to a disturbance
• A deputy assisted city units at 3 30 p m during a traffic stop when three
subjects, two adults and a luvemle, were arrested lor possession of mari-
juana
• A deput) assisted a city unit at 7 p.m with an intoxicated subject
• A deputy made a traffic stop at 9 45 p.m. at Station Street and Avenue
J and issued a citation to a woman tor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Saturday, March 22
• At midnight, a deputy responded to a loud music call at a bar on North
Alister Street Advised to turn it down
• A deputy took a theft of gas report at 2:35 a.m.
• A deputy responded at 6:55 a.m. to the area of a riding stable tn reference
to loose horses
• Deputies arrested one person for public intoxication at noon on Cotter
Street.
• Deputies and city units responded at 2 p.m. to a robbery call. Deputies
from Precinct 2 and Precinct 4 apprehended the subjects on State Highway
361. The vehicle driven by the suspects had been reported stolen.
• At the grocery store at 4:41 p.m.. a deputy arrested a subject for theft
• A deputy took a report on the theft of a boat trailer at 5:38 p.m
• A deputy responded at 6:40 p.m. to a fight call on Cut-Off Road and
Cotter Street. One subject was arrested for public intoxication.
