Dear Members,
I bet everyone afctending the meet-
ing last Sunday spent Monday dry-
ing out clothes and children. The rain
sine came down all day and into the
night. Our usual sociál was canceled
due to the dampness, and many mem-
bers wanted to attend the rosary for
Sister Zastoupil at 8 p.m. A moment
of silence was obsqrved during our
meeting for her and Brother Joe Jurek.
To the famili.es, we express deep sym-
pathy and may the departed háve
eternal rest.
Sister Bessie Petr reported that the
Dallas Fraternal Council will hold its
Wednesday, October 215, 1967
next meeting Nov. 21, at the Wood-
men of the world halí. Pian to make
Christmas a bit brighter through gifts
donated to the Salvation Army was
discussed; also members just might
want to draw nam.es among themselves.
How about that Czech Day at the
Fair? Were you there? The program
at the coliseum was wonderful and oh!
so colorful. The band and chorál group
certainly gave a first-rate show, and
did you hear those Vlk Sisters harmo-
nize? Of course, the gyrnnastics and
the dances (little children as well as
the Beseda), certainly made all present
také notice of their talent. To all in-
dividuals having so much to do with
preparing this day, our sinoere appre-
ciation. Work, plans and practice went
into this show and you deserve all the
credit. As many of the spectators re-
marked, “It was marvelous.”
Weli. things háve calmed down a bit
around the kitchen since that beauti-
ful refřigerator arrived. The committee
boasted of having pakl for it entirely
out of its own funds raised through
a dinner and bake sále reeently. Peace
will be interfupted again though;
these gals are not ones to be ignored
when pláns for remodeling are pres-
ented.
The Raymond Rej cek family is all
smiles thěse days, especially Barbara.
Her husband arrived for a 21-day
leave Oct. 9th. Wounded in Viet Nam,
he was sent to Japan to be hospitalized
and later to San Antonio Brooke Hos-
pital, to which he will re turu at the
end of his visit bere. We join the
family in their joy of having Jerry
Talley at home and hope the time will
soon be her,e when all loved ones are
reunited.
When the chorál group decides to
spend some of its funds they do it in
a big way. That dedicatéd crowd pre-
sentéd Lodge 84 with a new sotmd sys-
tém. Would you believe it ineluded a
microphone for the bar, too? Several
of the members helped to install this
magnifioent instrument and to them
and the generous chorál group we are
grateful.
Youth leader Sister Bessie Petr
thanked everyone for the cooperation
received during the Beseda practices.
Actually, gratitude should be expressed
to Sister Bessie for the endless hours
of hard work and patience she has
eontríbuted to the youth. satisfaetion
for her efforts must háve came last
Sunday, when she and several other
members happened to glance into the
teen roorn and instead of the usual
