LODGE NO. 74, LGVELADY
Dear Members:
Well here I am again. It has
been sometime since I’ve written
much in the Vestnik about the
activities taking plače here at our
Lodge No. 74. I had several men-
tion that I am gettmg behind with
my job. I presume there is a reason
for that; it just seems I don’t
háve as much time as I ušed to.
It really requires more time for
me to gain more members to the
SPJST society, because I háve to
drive much further to secure new
members. I go as far as Center-
ville, Buffalo and Palestině to gain
new members.
Well, the new addition is getting
nearer to being completed. The 12-
foot-wide fireplace is now finish-
ed. And I telí you, it really is a
masterpiece. Members donated
petrified wood and different klnds
of rocks from different parts of
the United States. Some of the
rocks brought to be installed in
the fireplace came from as far
away as Wyoming and Colorado. I
wili not name the members who
donated those rocks since I don't
know all the people who con-
tributed.
We had a nice crowd being en-
tertained by the fine music of The
Centurions on Saturday, May lOth.
We had a very distinguished guest:
Mrs. John Hafner from Ganado,
Texas. She spent a week with her
ison, Brother Rudy Hafner and
family. Also, Brother Ohester and
Sister Mildred Shmoldas had a
very dear person, Aunt Christine,
and her daughter, Helen, and an-
other cousin, Willie Mae Karlík,
from Lodge No. 54, West, spend the
weekend and also attend the
dance. For the first time in my
life I danced with both Helens,
and with Sister Willie Mae.
We also had a guest from Lodge
88, a first cousin of Brother Ernest
Hanka. I am sorry I forgot to put
her name on the list. We are al-
ways proud to háve guests from
other lodges.
SPJST Lodge Na 74 had open
house for the Senior Citizens of
Houston County; there are three
rest homes in the Crockett area;.
The citizens were invited to visit
our lodge home and Brother Carl
Buf ord was responsible for pro-
viding transportation for many of
the citizens from the rest homes
to visit our SPJST Lodge 74 build-
ing. We appreciate all who had a
part in this wonderful event for
the old-timers.
Artis Allen Lee, Chuck Lee, Wayne
Stewart and Jeff Sims, Willie Al-
len Lee, father, provided entertain-
ment for the old-timers; and the
SPJST Lodge 74 Youth Club also
entertained the Senior Citizens.
Mr. S. P. Dotson, age 94, performed
by playing the violin with several
songs that he enjoyed so well and
I understand he also danced. When
a 94-year-old gentleman can
dance, then I call that llving!
x The serapbooks of the history of
SPJST Lodge 74 were started by
Sister Slivena Michka and finished
by Sister Dorothy Smith. Sister
Dorothy did the bulk of the work,
and all the lodge really appreciates
this wonderful work these fina
members háve performed for oxa
Society and lodge.
We are also proud of Sister Linda
and Brother Jerry Michka, our as-
sistants for the youth dub. Broth-
er Jerry Michka was asked if he
could be a reportér for our Lodge
No. 74, and he said he would bte
glad to do so. We really do appre-
ciate those fiň? wqrkers of our
