Port Aransas residents and visi-
tors alike braved cold weather To
march in the Heinz 57 Day parade
Saturday, March 3.
They all ignored the blustery wind
as they marched and rode from Jay's
Seafood and Spaghetti Works to
Roberts Point Park.
There were numerous pets, in-
cluding "The Runaway Bride," in the
parade, all of whom were headed for
the Beautiful Pet Pageant at the park
during the Heinz 57 Day festivities,
sponsored by the Port Aransas
Kiwanis Club..
Incidentally, "The Runaway
Bride" won one of the parade tro-
phies. The other trophy went to the
Port Aransas Girl Scouts, who
hopped up on a balloon-decorated
trailer for the long ride. Their lead-
ers and several mothers walked the
route.
Johnie Martin Mathews was King
of the parade and Miss Rose was
queen.
Mayor Glenn Martin was grand
marshal.
Co-chairmen of the parade were
Nancy Clarke and Paula Harbaugh.
Folks along the route all seemed
to be enjoying the parade as they
gathered up the liberally thrown
candy.
