CAcres of Diamonds
A1 Hafed, a Persian, lured by tales of diamonds
plentiful in far-off lands, sold his farm and wan-
dered away in futile quest among th#Mountains
of the Moon.
One day the man who bought A1 Hafed’s despised
homestead, picked up a glittering stone.
He had discovered the rich diamond mines of
Golconda.
Acres of diamonds.
So it happens every day. Men and women right
here in Mercedes seek far-off fields and neglect
fruitful ones right here at home under their feet.
Right now there are golden opportunities here
in Mercedes and the Valley—they are yours for
the grasping. The officers of this bank will be
glad to talk with you regarding any of these that
you are planning to take hold of—our experience
is at your command, j ^ ** « ** ^

America the Beautiful
Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain.
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.
0, beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat,
Across the wilderness.
America! America!
God mend tine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self control,
Thy liberty in low.
O, beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine.
0, beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years,'
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears.
America! America!
God shed His grace on 'thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.
