Well, ya’ll, I’m
pooped. Moving is not
for wimps or “old” peo-
ple. It just about wiped
us out energy wise and
money wise. But we are
there. It may be some
time next year before all
the boxes get opened. We
have boxes from stor-
age that haven’t been
opened since we moved
to Virginia in 2003. I was
pleasantly surprised on
Monday when opening a
box I found a $10 bill in-
side a cup. After 3 days of
box opening, I was actu-
ally glad to come to work
on Tuesday to get away
from all those boxes.
Sadly, Timpson said
goodbye last week to
Steve Carroll of South-
ern Traditions. He moved
to Tennessee to be near
family.
We are getting a new
neighbor next door to the
paper - Remote World -
a computer, cell phone,
Business networking, and
small appliance repair
shop. We certainly could
use a repair business here
in Timpson. Mr. Spinuzzi
said that his wife will also
be selling collectible oil
lamps at the location. They
will be opening in about
two weeks.
Speaking of ‘openings’
be sure to look at the full
page Grand Opening Ad
on Page A-11 for Miller’s
Country Market. Personal-
ly, I can’t wait to buy some
of their goods, especially,
the butter and jellies.
Last year we decided to
start giving a scholarship
each year. This year it was
Tenaha ISD’s turn, and we
gave $500 to Austin Pat-
terson. Got a nice thank
you note from him. He
said that he greatly appre-
ciated it and it would be
helpful toward his college
expenses. You are cer-
tainly welcome, Austin.
Good luck with college.
We continue to have a
leak in our building from
something in between the
apartments above and our
ceiling. If it doesn’t get
fixed, the mildew smell is
about to drive us out.
Welcome to new sub-
scriber, Rev. Claude Tay-
lor of Tenaha. Hope you
enjoy our little paper!

In small town East Texas, a local mortician strikes up a friendship with a wealthy

that she’s still alive. Bernie is a 2011 crime comedy film directed by Richard
Linklater, and written by Linklater and Skip Hollandsworth and stars Jack Black,
Shirley MacLaine, Matthew McConaughey, & Rick Dial. It will be playing in
Center at the Rio Theatre starting Friday, June 8 and running through Thursday,
June 14. There will be a matinee on Sunday, June 10. This movie is based on
a murder in Carthage, TX.
Blaze destroys storage
building in Tenaha
On Sunday, June 3, at 12:15 PM, the Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department was
called to a fire at 256 Hicks Street. Wayne Colby’s neighbors had been burning
a brush pile and left it unattended. The fire spread out of control and into an
old bus and a storage building on Mr. Colby’s property. According to Tenaha
Volunteer Firefighter, Craig Terry, “propane bottles were blowing up, and it
was really hot. ” Timpson Volunteer Fire Department also assisted in putting
out the flames.
Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce
The Sheriff’s candidates for the November election, Sheriff Newton Johnson
(Democrat) and Willis Blackwell (Republican) came out to Timpson’s Movie night
along with an estimated 50 people. It was a great night, fairly cool with wind
blowing, and the ones there seemed to really enjoy “Support Your Local Sheriff. ”
A big Thank You to the Frontier Girls who helped with the concession stand.
