W. W. Willis left this morning for
Houston where he goes to attend a
meting of a pop bottler's association.

parted this morning for Houston.

arrived In the city last night and is
the guest of her father. Col. James
Furlong, the genial manager of the
Holland Hotel. Mrs. Doyle will re-
main in the city for about two weeks.

the Ducett Lumber Company, at Du*
cett spent Sunday and Monday In the
city, the guest of the family of J. E.

Mrs. H- Hlrsch, ha* arrived In
the city from Beattmont to join

At the regular term of the Commis-
sioner's Court, In session five days
last week, the court fixed the tax levy,
the same as that of the proceeding
year. A total of forty-nine and a quar-
ter cents on each one hundred dollars
covers all proprety. with the excep-
tion of that of the poll tax. and this In
tarn provides for the various funds to
operate the county affairs the ensu-
ing ywar. ,
The taxe* fixed are as follows:
A poll tax of twenty-five cents upon
all male persons for the use and ban
-fit of the poll tax fund.
One-fourth of o*»»* per cent, of each
hundred dollars valuation of taxable
property In Orange county for the use
of the General Advalorum Fund.
Fourteen cents of each hundred dol-
lars valuation of taxable property In
the county for the benefit of theHiond

gress Fisher before Justice of the
Peace J. B. BIsland this morning, on a
charge of theft of articles from the
home of H. .1. Ortmeyer yesterday
morning, was bound over to the coun-

Will Arrive Tonight From Dallas and
Will Give a Union Lecture On Sun-
day Schools Wednesday at Green
Avenue Baptist Church. All Day
Services.
General Secretary Meigs, of the In-
ternational Sunday School Association
with headquarters at Dallas, will ar-
rive In the city tonight and beginning
at 9:30 a. m., tomorrow, will give all
day union lectures at the Green Ave-
nue Baptist Church on 8unday School
got Its work.
These services will be participated
In by representatives and members
from alt the churches and the lecture
will cover In general, the work of each
church in Its Sabbath School depart-
ment.
Services will begin in the morning
and last until noon. In the afternoon
at 3 o'clock and last until 6 o’clock,
and in the evening services will begin
at 7 o’clock.
Mr. Meigs Is recognixed throughout
the United States as the greatest expo-
nent of Sabbath School work In all Its
branches, and the fact that Orange
will be visited by him again, will be
appreciated as there are many friends
of his among the Sunday School work-
ers In the city.
