The WSCS of the Methodist
Church met Monday for a year
book program with Mrs. C. C.

Mrs. T. L. Hilton gave an in-
spiring devotional on “The earth
is the Lord’s and the fullness there-
of.”

Is Double Green Stamp Day
Youth Canteen met Saturday,
July 26th in the Lions building
with dancing and table games en-
joyed by many young people. Ev-
eryone enjoyed the cake walk and
auction sale. Thanks to the Lions
for the use of the hall. We will
meet again Saturday night at 7:30.

Gordon Elmore have returned
home from their annual harvest
trek to the north and west of this
area. Their chief hired hands, Al-
bert Wilson and Morris Knox, also
are back on the town.
Mrs. Margariet Horany and chil-
dren, Donna, Connie and Mickey,
returned last week from a most
enjoyable 3-weeks’ vacation-visit
with the lady’s home folk, the S.
Shamas family, in Bristow, Okla-

Another Shamas daughter, Mrs.
Freddy Horany, and children, of
Olney also visited home-folk there.

HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. SS
providing on Bmcndmcnt to Article III of
the Constitution of the State of Texas by
th. addition of a new Section to be known
as Section 50a, providing for the establish-
ment of a State Medical Education Board
and a State Medical Scholarship Fund from
which grants, loans or scholarships may be
made to students desiring to study medicine;
providing that such students shall agree to
practice in rural areas of this State; pro-
viding certain restrictions and limitations;
providing for an election and the issuance
of a proclamation therefor.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
LEGISLATURE OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. That Article III of the Con-
stitution of the State of Texas be amended
by adding thereto a new Section to be
known as Section 50a which shall read as
follows:
“Sec. 50a. The Legislature shall create a
State Medical Education Board to be com-
posed of not more than six (6) members
whose qualifications, duties and terms of
office shall be prescribed by law. The Legis-
lature shall also establish a State Medical
Education Fund and make adequate ap-
propriations therefor to be used by the State
Medical Education Board to provide grants,
loans or scholarships to students desiring
to study medicine and agreeing to practice
in the rural areas of this State, upon such
terms and conditions as shall be prescribed
by law. The term 'rural areas’ as used in
this Section shall be defined by law.”
Sec. 2. The foregoing Constitutional
Amendment shall be submitted to a vote
of the qualified electors of *his State at an
election to be held on the first Tuesday
after the first Monday in November. A. D.
1952, at which all ballots shall have printed
thereon (or in counties using voting ma-
chines the machines shall provide for) the
following:
“FOR the Constitutional Amendment pro-
viding for the establishment of a State
Medical Education Fund from which grants,
loans or scholarships may be made to stu-
dents desiring to study medicine.”
“AGAINST the Constitntional Amend-
ment providing for the establishment of a
State Medical Education Fund from which
grants, loan or scholarships may be made
to students desiring to study medicine.”
Each voter shall mark out one of said
clauses on the ballot, leaving the one ex-
pressing his vote on the proi>osed amend-
ment; and if it shall appear from the re-
turns of said election that a majority of the
votes cast are in favor of said amendment,
the same shall become a part of the Con-
stitution of the State of Texaa.

Sec. 3. The Governor shall issue the neces-
sanr proclamation for said election and have
the same published as required by the Con-
stitution and laws of this State. The ex-
pense of publication and election for such
amendment shall be paid out of proper ap-
propriation made by law.
