Mrs. W. M Sanderfer and Mr.
and Mrs. Marlin Gilbreath spent
Sunday in Port Lavaca visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lovorn and Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Baker.
There was an abundance of flow-
ers and arrangements in the West
Sinton Garden Club's annual flower
show held at the Trinity Lutheran
Church Parish Hall Friday evening.
Approximately 210 entries were
made by the exhibitors vying for
the top awards.
The theme of the show "Jewels in
the Sun” was interpreted in various
forms by Mrs. R. E. Marburger,
sweepstakes winner in the artistic
division. Mrs . Richard Maxwell won

of outstanding specimens, Mrs. R.
A. Adams was1 the Sweepstake re-
cipient in the Pot Plant Division,
and Dennis Schneider was a double
Sweepstakes winndr in the Junior
Division, winning noth the artistic
and horticulture section.
Special recognition in the Artistic
DWtaOA included the Tri-color
Award to Mrs. R. A. Adams add the
Award of Distinction to Mrs. Martin
Schneider. Mrs. Schneider also won
the Award of Merit in the horticul-
ture division for an outstanding Am-
aryllis. >
Mrs. Richard Maxwell received a
green ro sette for outstanding
achievement on an educational di-
vision, a display of butterflies class-
ified and artistically mounted.
Blue Ribbon winners in the invi-
tational class of the artistic division
were presented to Mrs. Clyde Par-
ker and Mrs. J. B. Hansen. The
Odem Garden Club received a Red
Ribbon.

bon and Gayle Maxwell and Julie
Hansen received a red ribbon. Keith
Maxwell and Richard Hansen receiv-
ed honorable mention ribbons.
Dennis Schneider received 6 blue
ribbons and Jiggs Howick received
3 blue ribbon* in the Junior Horti-
culture Division.

University Interscholastic League

dsy.
Sam Dixon placed second in prose
reading; Mary Ann Beard placed
first in ready writing; Janet Betts
placed second in typing and Judy
Richter third and the two girls plac-
ed first as a team; Gloria Yoakum
placed second in shorthand and Ce-
cile Mokry and Gloria placed second
as a team.

Cheerleader tryouts have been
scheduled for April 20. Practice be-
