School seventh grade
Shorthorns dropped a
close 8-6 decision to the
Midlothian seventh
grade Tuesday night in
their season final.
Midlothian scored first
in the opening quarter
and the Shorthorns had
an opporutnity to tie the
score late in the half but

Bullies squeek by Wildcats
The Cedar Hill junior
varsity Bullies traveled
to meet the Kennedale
Wildcats last Thursday
night and brought home
a 7-6 victory.
Kennedale scored first
early in the second
period after a sustained
drive, but the extra point
attempt failed and they
led 6-6.
Late in the same
period the Bullies struck
quickly with the big play
coming on a 55-yard pass
play from Jimmy
Thompson to Jerry
Mayfield down to the
Wildcat one yard line.
Two plays later, Jerry
Mayfield dove over for
the touchdown.
Thompson added the
extra point for a 7-6
halftime lead.
The Cedar Hill
Chamber of Commerce
reported last week the
winners of last month's
chamber golf tourna-
ment at Red Oak
Country Club.
Top foursome in the
tourney consited of Lee
O'Conner, Bobby
Crowley. Bob Barker,
and Jack Goldstein.
Runner-up foursome
was comprised of Donnie
Farris. Larry Cockrell.
R. Johnson and Gilbert
Culpepper.
a pass interception killed
the drive.
The third quarter
turned into a defensive
battle as both teams
failed to move the ball.
Near the end of the third
quarter The van h
blocked Midlothian punt
and the Shorthorns
drove the ball down the
field capped by a scoring
run by Kevin Starks. The
try for the two point
conversion failed.
The Shorthorns
finished the season at 5-3
and district play at 3-2.

Third place trophies
went to Raymond
Easley. Ed Hangaski,
Ray Thorne, and Greg
Patton.
Walkie-Talkie took top
honors in overall beer
consumption.
The Bullie defense had
an outstanding effort to
hold the Wildcats on a
fourth and one play late
in the game to preserve
the victory.

Outstanding perfor-
mances were turned in
by Guy Cruce, David
Heasley, Jerry
Mayfield, Vaughn Lopez
and Jimmy Thompson
The Bullies played
extremely well against a
very big and physical
Kennedale team, coach
Larry Hughes said.
Their record now
stands at 5-3-1 with the
last game of the year
coming tonight at 7:30
p.m. against the
Midlothian Panthers.
