Ryan Alan Kolar celebrated

WEST - The West Court of
Catholic Daughters of the
Americas has named winners
in poetry, art and poster
contests sponsored at St.
Mary's School. Contestants
chose one of two themes:
"Love and Friendship” and
“We Are Chosen to Serve".
Valerie Lednicky, an
eighth grader, won first place
in Division II of the poetry
contest Other winners were
Kathy Sykora, grade 7,
second place: and Jeff
Holloman, grade 8, third
place.
Honorable mention was
given to James D. Brown,
Jan Hutyra and Kenny
Zahirniak in grade 7 and to
Bryan Anderson, Melissa
Neill and Roxanne
Kutscherousky in grade 8.
First place winner in
Division I of the poetry
contest was fifth-grader Jason
Janek. In a tie for second
place were Timothy
Lednicky, grade 6 and
Victoria Manax, grade 5.
Third place winner was
Candace Urbanovsky, grade
5.
Honorable mention was
given to grade 4 to Jeffrey
Culverhouse, James Nemec,
Scott Rieger and Curt
Veselka and in grade 6 to
Shawn Rieger.
Denise Dulock, grade 6,
won first place in the Art
Contest. In second place was
Jason Wood, grade 6, and in
third place, Victoria Manax,
grade 5.
Honorable mention was

grade 6.

Marine Course
TWENTYNINE PALMS.

Neil E. Melasky, son of
Donald E. and Norma L
Melasky of Route 2. West,
recently completed the
Ground Radio Repair
Course, conducted by the
Marine Corps
Communication - Electronics
School in Twentynine Palms,
California.
During the 14-week
course, Melasky received
instruction on the radio
communication equipment
used by Marine Corps ground
units. This included
equipment characteristics,
theory of operation, circuit
analysis, alignment,
performance testing and
troubleshooting
He also required to study
corrective maintenance
procedures, the use of
technical publications and the
applicable aspects of Marine
Corps Maintenance
Administration.
A 1981 West High School
graduate, he joined the
Marine Corps in July 1984

baby brother, Brent Aaron, born at 9:14 a m. April 2 at
Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

Amanda Rose Mynarcik
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel A. Mynarcik, Jr. of Temple are the
proud parents of a baby girl born April 2 at Scott and White
Hospital. She weighed seven pounds 13 ounces and was
named Amanda Rose.

Megan Renee was born to Rick and Melody Wilde at
5:59 a m. April 4 She weighed seven pounds four ounces
and was 19V2 inches long.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Uptmore and Mr
and Mrs. E R Urbanovsky, both of West. Grandmother is
Mrs Mary Urbanovsky of West.
Sasha Marie Stacy
Steve and Pamela Stacy announce the birth of their
daughter, Sasha Marie, born March 25 at Hillcrest Baptist
Medical Center in Waco.
The little miss weighed five pounds and eleven ounces
and was eighteen inches long.
Her brother Chance Eric welcomed her home.
Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert W.
Pavelka.
Paternal grandparents are Nadine Stacy and the late
Herbert Stacy of Marlin.

Melinda Rachelle Weathers is happy to announce the
arrival of her baby sister, Christina Michelle, born at 4:06
p m. March 31 at Plano General Hospital in Plano.
Christina Michelle weighed seven pounds, seven-and-
three-quarters ounces and was 19 and three-quarters inches

Kristel Klaus Wins Second
In Gymnastic Competition
Kristel Klaus took second
all around in a Class 11 USGF
competition March 22 in
Hewitt. Kristel placed second
on vault and balance beam.
She took fourth place honors
on uneven bars and floor
exercise.
Kristel has qualified to
compete in the USGF Class II
State meet in Fort Worth.
She is a member of Texas
Gymnastics Sports Academy
in Hewitt. Kristel is the
daughter of Eddie and
Charlotte Klaus of West and
the granddaughter of Nancy
Hurtt and Ed Klaus, both of
West.
