Earlier in the week the weathermen were predictingrain for this
weekend. Sunday afternoon we had a sprinkle, enough to wet and
clean the windshield. A lot of area fanners would like to have one
more week of drier weather, though, and then a shower, or even a
rain.
Have you seen the com? It's really starting to grow, especially
after the fertilizer was added this past week or so. Milo is up, and
almost tall enough to give fields that green haze that is a crop, and
not weeds! And it's cotton planting time, too.
Our tractors have been running early and late, trying to get crops
planted or fertilized, and cows still have to have attention, too. It's
a busy time of year.
Eunice Hufihines is trying to recuperate. Bones take a while to
heal though and grow strong again. Please keep Eunice and Don
and her family in your prayers.
Jimmy Powell is still going strong. His eye may not have full-
vision yet, but he isn't letting that stop him. He is still out for his
coffee, and at church, or anywhere else that he needs to be. Please
remember him, and Margaret also in your prayers.
Ed Fleming is supposed to be at home now. He had been in the
hospital for several weeks undergoing therapy, but the last I heard
he was supposed to come home. Ed and Lillian, hope he is home
now, and you are both doing better.
Bonnie Janek is recovering from a sprained ankle. She and
Margaret Arthur had been somewhere together, and the "accident"
happened after they had returned to Bonnie's house. You'll have to
ask one of them for more details. It's some story.
I was shocked to see that our Carl Morgan had passed on. And
then I was shocked again at the number of years he had been
allowed to stay on this earth. We will miss him. Please remember
his family at this time.
Our Clayton was here over the weekend. Diane took him fishing
Saturday evening. They caught fifteen or sixteen fish, from one and
a half to five inches, not pounds. They had a good time, though. I
asked Clayton about the fish and he said they threw them back in,
so they could grow some more.
Scott and Diane, Bridgette and Alisha, Amber and Clayton all
went to Scott's mother's home after church on Sunday, for Clayton's
birthday dinner and cake. He was excited about that.
Our Larry came through Saturday on his way to Ft. Worth. His
sister was teasing him, saying he got too close to the farm, because
he was hauling a full anhydrous tank out to the farm. He lives in
Houston, and he thought that was far enough away that he
wouldn't be "farming" anymore.
We learned last Friday that our Fern Willis, Mom's and Janell
Hardwick's sister-in-law had triple bypass surgery last Friday. She
had an infection, and then a heart attack earlier in the month, and
had been pretty ill. At last report, though, she is doing much better.
Ruth Hardwick, of Waco, is another sister-in-law to Fern, also.
Please keep Fern in your prayers.
We always stop in to see Janell Hardwick whenver we go to the
Rest Home to see Mom. Janell was out gadding around with one of
her sons this past Sunday, though, so we didn't get to see her. She
and Don have this thing going about the grim reaper. I guess the old
grim reaper will have to wait a while longer.
Is this your birthday week? Those on my list are Diane Strohacker
on April 24, Kathy Doherty, Robbi Green, and Linda Straten on
April 25, two Connies on this next date, Connie Scott and Connie
Griffin on April 26 and Teresa Cate on April 27.
Two friends celebrated their anniversary last week, and I forgot
to list them last week. Jimmy and Terri Maler celebrated their
anniversary on April 15. Happy Anniversary, you two, and hope
you have many more good years together.
Drive carefully in our town please. We love our children. And you
wouldn't want the death or injury of a child on your conscience the
rest of your life either. Drive carefully.
We are almost into May, the last month of school. Prom night is
coming and the After Prom Party, and Band and Athletics Ban-
quets, and the FFA Banquet, the Senior Trip and Graduation.
We'll see you next week.
