A WHS graduate of 1966, Carl-
ton was a foreign exchange stu-
dent from Texas A&M, where
he is majoring in industrial en-
gineering. He visited and photo-
graphed parts of Spain, Ger-
many, France, Italy, Yugoslav-
ia, and Czechoslovakia. These
slides were shown during his
talk.
While in Czechoslovakia, Carl-
ton visited the family home in
Znbarna, where he found the
tJhptismal certificate of his
great-great-great - grandfather.
There he was given a history
book of the community.

Mrs. Lednicky
Returns From
Six-Week Trip
Mrs. Hattie Lednicky has re-
turned home from a six week
trip to Georgia, Florida and
Washington, D. C.
She visited her son and fam-
ily, Major and Mrs. Eugene Led-
nicky and two daughters at Ft.
Benning, Columbus, Georgia.
They toured the city and sur-
rounding area, including Warm
Springs, Ga., where they visited
Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Little
White House and Museum, and
the Callaway Gardens, Azalea
Trails and Mountain Creek Lake
at Pine Mountain, Ga.
They enjoyed the beautiful
white sand beaches and wading
in the Gulf of Mexico at Destin
Beach, Florida. They went deep
sea fishing on a private party
boat and caught 4 King Macke-
rel weighing from 6 to 10 pounds.
They also visited Pensacola, Fla.
and saw its beautiful beaches
and lovely new and old residen-
tial section.
In Falls Church, Virginia Mrs.
Lednicky visited with Lacy and
Dorothy Stiff. In Falls Church
she visited St. James Church,
Mount Vernon and Woodland
Plantation, George Washing-
ton’s wedding present to his
niece, Nellie Custis.
In Washington, D. C. she vis-
ited Senator Yarborough’s Of-
fice in the Senate Office Build-
ing. It was a pleasant surprise
to meet Janis Marak working
there. They had a pleasant chat
and Janis said to tell all her
folks and friends in West
•Hello.”
They toured the National Cap-
ital and visited the Senate
Chamber while in session, tour-
ed the White House on a pass
from Senator Yarborough, and
the Franciscan Monastery, Gar-
dens and Catacombs.
In Arlington they toured the
National Cemetery where they
saw the graves of President John
Kennedy and Robert Kennedy,
the Tomb of the Unkonwn
Soldier where they saw the
changing of the guard, the Lee-
Custis Mansion, tire U. S. Marine
Memorial the Iwo Jima State.
They also visited Thomas Jef-
ferson Memorial. George Wash-
ington National Monument.
Smithsonian Institute where
they saw a “Lunar Rock”, Space-
craft Gemeni IV, First Ladies’
Gowns, Gem Exhibit, Pre-histo-
ric animal exhibition and house
where Abe Lincoln died.
One day they drove to Madi-
son College in Harrisonburg,
through the Blue Ridge Moun-
tains of the western part of Vir-
ginia. They visited Mrs, Lednic-
ky’s great niece, Dana Stiff, at
the college and saw the Shenan-
doah River at Fort Royal, and
the apple orchards.
Another day was spent touring
the Shrine of Immaculate Con-
ception in Washington, visit-
ing Lacy’s sister, Marie Hoss-
l'eldt, drove through Rock Creek
Park and National Zoological
Park, viewed C & O Canal along
the Potomac River, drove around
the Pentagon and saw the
“Falls Church” where George
Washington was a Vestryman,
and after which the city was
named.
Janacek Quartet
To Perform At
Baylor Univ.
The Janacek Quartet, the first
in the Baylor University School
of Music’s current Distinguished
Artists Series, will perform at
8:15 p.m. Oct. 27 in Roxy Grove
Hall on the Baylor campus.
The ensemble from Czecho-
slovakia was formed when its
four members were studying at
the Janacek Academy of Music
in Prague, and has since won
critical acclaim in Poland,
Germany, Italy, Austria, the
Near East. Egypt and South Af-
rica.
The Janacek Quartet plays its
entire repertory from memory,
in accordance with their theory
that only when technical prob-
lems have been completely mas-
tered can they concentrate en-
tirely on musical interpretation.
The quartet’s Tuesday con-
cert will include Mozart’s Quar-
tet in E-flat, K. 428, Dvorak’s
Quartet In G, Op. 106 and Jan-
acek's Quairtet No. 2.
Individual performance tick-
ets are $2.50 for adults and $1.50
for students and military per-
sonnel. Season tickets for all
four concerts in the series are
$7.50 for adults and $4 50 for
students and military personnel.
Tickets are on sale in the
music school office. Additional

team opened their season last
Thursday with both the A and
B teams winning over Crawlord.

ception for members of their
graduating class before the
homecoming banquet on Satur-
day, Oct. 17. Those attending

Mrs. Barry Jackson of Lewis-
