Mr. and Mrs Ronald N. Beamsley of Pharr announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter,
Deborah Kay. to Harry Grmela. both of Gatesville. The
prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr and Mrs. John
Grmela of Malone and the grandson of Mrs Frank Kolar of
West
The bride-elect is a graduate of Pharr San Juan - Alamo
High School and Southwest Texas State University at San
Marcos, and is currently teaching Home Economics at
Gatesville High School
Her fiance, a graduate of Bynum High School and Texas
A&M University, is currently teaching Vocational
Agriculture at Gatesville High School
The couple will wed at 7:30 p m June 21 in the Holy
Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen
Family Reunion
Divin Reunion
The annual Divin Reunion is scheduled for June 1 at the
new K C Hall pavillion in Ennis. The hall is located east of
the service road at 1-45 and highway 34 exit.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. with dinner at noon. Those
planning to attend are asked to bring enough food for their
family.
Nors Reunion
The Nors Family Reunion is set for June 8 at the new
Parish Hall in Abbott
Registration starts at 10 a m. with a noon meal
scheduled. Those planning to attend the reunion are asked
to bring enough food for their families and guests.
Rejcek Reunion
The annual Rejcek reunion will be June 7 at the SPJST
Hall in West.
Registration will begin at 2p.m. with supper at 5p.m. and
a dance from 7 to 11 p.m
Each family is asked to bring food for their families and
guests. Plates, silverware, napkins, tea and coffee will be
furnished
Please get in touch with your out-of-town relatives, so
they can all join in the fun
Adair Reunion
The Adair family reunion will be May 25 at K.C. Park in
West. The group will eat at 12
Each family is responsible for their own food, drinks and
eating utensils.
Lander Reunion
The annual Lander Family Reunion will be from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m.. May 25 at Cottonwood Hall. Route 2. West.
Friends and family of the late H Y. and Annie Symank
Lander are invited to attend A covered dish meal will be
served at noon Tea, coffee, plates, napkins and silverware
will be furnished

Miss Laura Kaska Honored
During Bridal Showers
Laura Kaska, bride-elect
of Robert Morgan, was
honored with a miscella-
neous bridal shower, hosted
by relatives at the home of
Kay Kaska on April 27.
Chicken salad sandwi-
ches. cake, strudel, fruit
squares and punch were
served to approximately 35
guests.
Laura was also honored by
relatives of the prospective
groom in Robinson in the
home of Mary Geiger on
May 10
Cake, mints, nuts and
punch were served to
approximately 20 guests.
West Personals
Mrs Henry Glatter (Dorothy) is now home recovering
after being in Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for three
weeks. Mrs. Glatter and her family are glad to be back
home. She is improving a little every day.
Mr and Mrs. Rudolph J. Sembera of West recently
enjoyed a visit from their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs Alan R. Pickup of St. Louis. MO. They also visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Janek and sons of Ross.
Mrs. Pickup is the former Lorraine Sembera. They
celebrated their 32nd anniversary while here. Msgr. George
Doskocil had officiated at their wedding in 1954.
They have two children: Michael and Vicki Lynn. Michael
will soon receive his doctorate in physics from Cornell
University and has accepted employment with Eastman
Kodak Co. of Rochester, NY.
Vicki received her B S B A. from Washington University
in St Louis. She is employed by a division of McDonnell
Douglas Aircraft in auditing. She is married to Randall
Reyes who is attending dental college.

Birthday

Scott Matthew Mechell,
son of Larry and Joyce
Mechell, celebrated his
fourth birthday on May 2
with a party at home.
He-Man was the theme of
his party.
Everyone enjoyed cake
and homemade strawberry
ice cream.
Scott thanks everyone for
coming and the nice gifts he

children currently living They

Jr. of West. They also have
12 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

MEDFORD, OKLA.-Ar-
lene Elizabeth Skrdla is the
Salutatorian of the Medford
High School with graduation
exercises set at 8 p.m. May
23.
She i$ in the Oklahoma
and National Societies. She
served as President of the
National Honor Society,
Historian of the F.H.A. for
two years, was a representa-
tive of the Leadership
Conference and was a
participant in the Freedom
Forum at the Oklahoma
Christian College. She also
was an F.F.A. attendent.
Arlene has won several
trophies in art and has had
many first place ratings. She
had one ink drawing
exhibited in the Oklahoma
State Capital. She won
Grand Champion on a pastel
portrait of George Strait at
the Caldwell, Kansas Coun-
ty Fair.
Arlene was the 1985 Polka
Queen of the Oklahoma *1
Polka Club.
Arlene is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Skrdla.
Her grandparents are the
late Henry F. Krizan and
Arlene Skrdla
Lydia Krizan of Medford,
formally of West and Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Skrdla of
Caldwell, Ks. Her great-
grandparents were Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Krizan of West

Hegar of Abbott. Her
mother is the former Doris

western Oklahoma State

Sherry and Michael Harris of 2518 Parrott in Waco are
proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Sheena
Marie, on May 7, 1986.
Grandparents are: Doris (Urbanovsky) and Noel Gayden,
Chester Harris and Mrs. Janette Gross, all of Waco.
Heather Dawn Jackson
Mr. and Mrs. David Jackson of Elm Mott are the proud
parents of a baby girl, Heather Dawn, born at 11:46 a.m.
May 13, 1986 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.
Heather weighed nine pounds and seven ounces and was
20’/2 inches long. She has a sister, Crystal.
Grandparents are: Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Joe Jackson of
Bellmead and Mr. and Mrs. Ike Pratka of Penelope. Great-
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Daniel of Bellmead.
The mother is the former Patricia Pratka of Penelope.
Brian Joseph Mechell
Larry and Joyce Mechell of West are proud to announce
the arrival of their son. Brian Joseph, born at 10:37 a.m.
May 4, 1986 in Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.
Brian weighed eight pounds eight ounces and was 20V2
inches long. He is also welcomed home by his brother,
Scott, and his sister, Jennifer.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Dennis N. Krai of
Mesquite. Mr. and Mrs Bill Skerik of West and the late Emi!
Mechell.

James Edward Gerik were
married May 10, 1986 at the
Church of the Assumption in
West with Monsignor
George Doskocil officiating.
Parents of the bride are
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A.
Vrbas of West. The groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred E. Gerik, also of
West.
The bride wore an ivory
silk satin “A” line gown.
The molded bodice of
alencon lace featured a
dropped torso, high Victo-
rian neckline, and long slim
petal point sleeves. Her
headpiece was a pearled
lace bridal hat with illusion
veiling. The bride carried a
bouquet of orchids, baby
roses and greenery.
Mary Lyons was maid of
honor. Matron of honor was
Debbie Keel. Bridesmaids
were: Cyndy Angelo, Anna
Cocek, Amy Gerik, Cristy
Kubacak, Carla Nemec and
Natalie Nemec. They wore
matching floor length “A”
line summer turquoise silk
taffeta gowns. Their bou-
quets were composed of
mixed spring flowers.
Best man was Charles
Kubacak. Groomsmen were:
Mike Gerik, Steven Gerik,
Gary Harkins, Marty Marak,
Tommy Muska, Mike Rydel
and Matt Gerik.
Ushers were Kevin King,
Roger Kuntz and James
Rogers.
The houseparty atten-
dants were: Kathleen Klish,
Jill Kubacak, Melissa Lopez
and Michelle Marak.
After a trip to Hawaii, the
couple will live in Carrollton.
