COLLEGE STATION —
Texas A&M University is
known for some of the most
generous alumni in the country,
wlm are always looking for ways
to "give something back to
their alma mater.
Under a program developed
hy the university’s Association
of Former Students, Aggies are
now able to keep that tradition
going while at the same time
pros iding a unique link to cur-
rent Texas A&M students.
The program, named for for-
mer student Lipscomb Ander-
son, Class of 1927, allows class
rings to be donated by former
Texas A&M students and recast
in current vear molds so that
current Aggie seniors may wear
a ring made from the gold of a
former student's ring.
Since the Lipscomb Ander-
son Perpetual Ring Program
went into effect lust January,
some tO former students have
donated their class rings so that
current seniors can obtain rings
at no cost.
The idea for the program
originated with Jack Fritts, a
1953 Aggie graduate and past
president of the Texas A&M
Association of Former Stu-
dents. It was Anderson, howev-
er. who first voiced an interest
in donating his own class ring.
