they touched the ball, the
Rockets had drives of 41.
46, 57 and 61 yards and
coasted to a 28-0 halftime

Robinson's second

spurred their momentum, as
they took over after West
had a pass drop in Rocket
territory that appeared wide
open for a TD had it been
caught.
The next bad break on the
Trojans agenda was a punt
snap that sailed over the
punter's head, setting up the
Rockets in excellent field
position.
Robinson scored a field
goal and two touchdowns to
round out their scoring in
the second half.
West finally got on the
scoreboard in the fourth
quarter as Jeff Tobola hit
James Stewart with a 79
yard touchdown strike.
Stewart pulled in the ball
and outraced the Rocket

Gary Kreder intercepted
Rocket passes

defense were Darrin Banik.
Gerald Snapka, Chip Bajer
and Brian Sykora.
Pat Stewart paced the
offense, leading all West
rushers with 75 yards on 15

The West Junior Varsity
took a hard fought 14 12
loss at the hands of the
Robinson Rockets at Rocket
field last Thursday Playing
fiercely against yet another
much larger team. West saw
their early lead dwindle and
finally slip away.
The Trojans wasted little
time in putting points on the
board. They forced the
Rockets into a bad punt on
the first series of downs, the
ball skipping out of bounds
at the 35 yard line on the
punt. Quarterback Lynn
Uptmor danced in for the
first TD. as he made a good
fake into the left side of the
line on the option play, and
then turned upheld, cutting
back to the right and
zigzagging 35 yards into the
end zone The point after
failed.
Punts proved to be
Robinson's main weakness.
The second Trojan score
came after Steve Kucera
blocked a Rocket punt that
went out of bounds at the
Robinson 1 yard line The
touchdown came on a
quarterback sneak and the
scoreboard favored West 12
to nothing.
On this second
touchdown the Trojans tried
for a two point conversion,
but the effort fell short as
Abbott Girls
Win District
The Abbott Pantherettes
beat Bynum in two straight
games as they captured the
District 7-A volleyball
championship last Friday.
The Abbott girls beat
Bynum 15-1 and 15-6 to
capture the title.
Abbott also defeated
Midlothian on Monday by
scores of: 15-7. 10-15 and
15-9.
Donald Holzmann, taking
the option, was tackled shy
of the goal
In the second stanza the
fired up Rockets controlled
the bail most of the half.
They scored in the third
quarter after the Trojans had
managed three great goal
line stands from the one
vard line. Robinson dialed
up a fake reverse play for
the score. They then
converted on the two point
try, and the score was West
12, Robinson 8.
West held onto that four
point lead until the last 36
seconds of the game
Robinson had been forced
into a fourth down situation,
needing 10 yards. On fourth
down the Rocket
quarterback hit his tight end
some 20 yards down field
for the go ahead
touchdown.
West did try a 52 yard
field goal with three seconds
remaining, but the kick was
not long enough.
Leading West's defensive
thrust were Steve Kucera,
Tim Bailey, Richard
Conway, Travis Scott,
Howard Clift and Keith
Denton.
The JV stands at five
wins, three losses for the
vear.
