Rainy weather Saturday afternoon
caused the postponement of the NT
Spirit Rally and Bed Races, but it didn't
dampen spirits.
The event has been rescheduled for
3:30 p.m. today at the east side of
the Coliseum.
Dana Wilson, programming director
for the Residence Hall Association, said
RHA and the University Program Coun-
cil are sponsoring the event to raise
school spirit for Homecoming weekend
and the Eagles’ football game with
McNeese State University at 6 p.m.
Saturday.
“Actually, I'm kind of glad we’re
doing it this weekend,” Wilson said.
"We’ll be close to the Advancement
Center, where the picnic will be going
on. and everyone can go to the bonfire
from there.”
Activities begin at 3:30 p.m. with
musical performances by the Plunge.
The bed races will start at about 4:15
p.m.
in the bed racing competition, teams
of eight people — four who push a bed,
one who rides in it and three who serve
as a pit crew — perform certain tasks
and race with the beds in an oval track.
Trophies will be awarded to the first,
second and third place teams of the
finals. All participants in the finals will
receive a T-shirt transfer. Teams are
encouraged to decorate their beds.
